Question Diablo

Well I was thinking on a diablo chip for my 03 GT. Does anybody have one? What are the pros and cons? Should I add more mods before getting it?

Pros- car goes faster due to the less weight from your wallet.
Cons- everything else.

Granted, chips give a lil extra puff from an engine.. but get real mods first, then get a chip dyno burned... an off the shelf is made for all mustangs, not yours specifically.. its like everyone buying the same size shoes.

I have a Diablo... it was custom burned for me before it was sent to me. I bought it from Need 4 Speed. It's helped a lot as far as shift points since I have an AODE, and it helped with my speedometer when I got my 3.73s, but other than that, I don't think that it was worth it.

I'm looking for something that I can program myself, but haven't found anything that sounds good yet. If you hear of anything, please let me know.

2cool, if you are planning on modifications I would hold off until those are done.

mustanggt, you might want to check into the TwEECer RT (www.tweecer.com). There is a leaning curve but once you get through that it is pretty awesome stuff! After tunning our '91 I got the car to pick up .92 tens in the quarter just by a tune and changing the cam timing in the ECM.

i'm not a big fan of custom chips that are ordered over the phone(maybe if it's burnt at the time of a dyno tune). I have a friend that puts a chip in every car he's owned and he always ends up wrecking something. Last year he melted a piston in his blown 95gt and in his 2001 lightning he melted a couple of electrodes off his spark plugs and already this year he toasted the tranny. I'm not saying that the Diablo chip caused on this but(he drives his vehicles pretty hard) but they certainly contributed to it.

Just my opinion

I have a PMS that I bought way back in '97 and it's been pretty good to me. I run 14lbs of boost on the street with 91 octane gas and I have never had my valve covers off yet(Knock on wood). Although that will change next year as my motor is starting to get tired.

I have a diablo chip installed in my AOD 02 GT and I am very pleased. I upgraded the gears and needed the speedo recaled and the only way via a chip. The computer has a code that they should use when they burn the chip. They can also advance the timing and changed the shift points for the AOD. This is what they did to mine and I am very pleased with the performance.
