umm... your car wont move? lol

you will notice when it STARTS to go out because it will slip... when you take off from a light or on a hill you will feel it kinda "shutter" like a bumpy feeling.. that is the clutch slipping.

when it goes completely out it will be totally unexpected and you will not be able to predict when it will give. i suggest if it is original clutch and has more than 60 k on it and is starting to feel kinda "strange" just replace it.

Usually first, second, and maybe 3rd will work, but after that the clutch will just slip

You'll definately feel a shudder and probably a smell from it too.

or if you give it gas and it revs up before actually moving forward is a pretty good indicator that your clutch is wearing out. Not very often does a clutch just go "out". usually it will slip for a good amount of time before its too worn to engage and move the car forward.

Another thought. If you have to rev-shift or grind your gears to get in. Could be syncros, but if it happens to grind in each gear, the clutch may not be releasing fully.

Smells like hot brakes, can make a chattering sound, but usually you will notice your RPMs and speedo going up when you are not going any faster.

If it is just a funny feel and it is stock, then reach under the clutch pedal with your toe and pull up on the pedal. If it needs adjusting, you will hear it click, and it will adjust itself. Depending on the mileage, you may need a new clutch cable too.
