Default Gear question

I jsut got a 97 Cobra, in 5th gear i turn right on 2000 RPM at 60 mph,
that seems awful high to me. I am used to my 91 GT automatic so I could be just not used to it. Of course if there was any gears dropped in this, i have no idea if the speedometer was adjusted or not. I am not even sure which gears came in this thing stock. All I do know is it has TONS of pull compared to the GT and I can break it loose at will. If I get on it off the line I have significant traction issues all the way to third gear.

so anyhow any insight would be appreciated

You have the stock 3.27 gears. That is not high what so ever. If you plan on doing gears go with 4.10's and nothing less. The Cobra motor can rev very high. A lot higher then your old GT, so don't fear the gear.

The reason it has pull is your GT had 225 hp and an automatic, where the Cobra has 305 and a manual.

Sorry the 97 Cobra does not have a T5. It has the Borg Warner T45.

thanks for the feedback, I noticed it doesn't rev limit until 6800 RPM, which is plenty fine with me =)
