Hey guys, I have a 1999 Mustang GT with the auto transmission, I had replaced today the output tailshaft seal as it was leaking but the driveshaft still has play in it either up / down / left / right while in tailshaft. I have done some searches but I cannot seem to track down a part number to see if there is a bushing that I can replace.
There is no bushing in the tail shaft to replace unless you dig deeper into the transmission. There will always be a little play up and down, side to side. That's just the way it is. Is it still leaking or giving you other problems?
There most certainly is a bushing in the housing. Typically if its bad it will leak. I take it that since you replaced the seal that the tail shaft is leaking. I would take the rear housing off and either replace the bushing or take it to a transmission shop and have them do it.
