How much is an 1985 mustang gt worth?

I have an 85' gt with the following mods........

1. Hurst short shifter
2. world class t5
3. msd ignition and blaster 2 coil
4. edelbrock rpm air gap II intake
5. edelbrock 600 cfm carb with electric choke
6. ford racing lowering springs
7. kyb shocks
8. Long tube headers (not sure what kind)
9. Hi-flow H-pipe (no-cats)
10. Flowmaster mufflers
11. Cowl induction hood
12. Sylvania silver star headlights
13. It has a block from an 87-94 f150
14. 8.8 inch rear
15. 4.10 richmond gears
16. 16x8 american racing wheels

Thats all I can think of now. I was hoping to trade it for a car that I can use everyday. This thing is to fast to drive all the time. I have only had the car for about a month. I traded a friend of mine a ford escort, he needed something his family can use and I felt bad for him and offered that car to him and he gave me this. Now, its not in perfect condition. To be in awesome condition it will need a passenger side door due to rust at the bottom of the door. It needs some of the interior panels, headliner, and maybe some front seats. Also the power steering pump is making some noises. But it is in great mechanical shape, and it fires right up and runs great. The body is in great shape except for the rust at the bottom of the door. I was hoping to trade with someone that has a stock mustang that I can use everyday thats in good shape. What do you guys think? Thanks guys and gals!!

You might be able to get a couple/four grand for it to the right buyer, but it's going to have to be someone who wants that stuff. Unfortunately all the mods are going to cost more than what you'll get back from a sale.

Because of the rust, I'd say it'd be just below "very good" status, which would mean the value would be $4000. Take off some for the rust so I'd say around $3000 for it as is. The prices for the aftermarket parts have very little to do with the value of the car (unfortunate but true) unless you find a private party who realizes the parts it has.

I was just hoping to trade for someones stock mustang. This thing was made for one thing and one thing only, and thats to go down the drag strip. I need something I can use everyday. Do you think someone out there wants to trade for a car like this? Basically what I'm asking is, is there a demand for cars like this?

There's a demand for everything, you just need to find the right person. Advertising it in the right locations is a good way to go too. Make sure the people who see it for sale are the people looking for a race car.

That is a good point. Throw some 3.55's in there and you'll have some get up and still no problems on the street. You really don't have a crazy intake system so it's perfectly streetable unless there's some kind of crazy cam in the thing. Or if you have emissions there; that may pose a problem too.

I paid 2K for my 85 GT bone stock, so I think these guys have it right when they say around 4K.

I bought my '85 on ebay three years ago. It was in similar condition, had similar mods. I paid $2675 for it.

I have about $11k in it now. I could never sell it for anywhere near what I have in it, but then I don't ever intend to sell it. You never get the money back that you put into mods when you sell.

We're not the fastest car at the track but we might be having the most fun.

If you're not having fun, then you're taking this stuff too seriously!

Like I said before, it runs good but might need some doors and some interior parts. But I tell you what, this thing runs strong. I have only had it about 1 month and its just to much for me right now. But I go to the carlisle car show every year and thats not a bad idea to try and sell it there. Thanks guys
