Did he pull on you the whole time? How bad did you lose ground on the shifts? Was he hooking better?

I got into it with a Camero of similar vintage as my '93 GT on the street. I have a few mild mods. I think he was pretty stock. We didn't really get to line up good, but I was pulling on him pretty hard. I saw him again at the track the other night. I think the fastest he ran was a 15.2. I blew up my clutch, so I didn't get a good run (15.8 @ 93).

The AOD guys have it a little easier. Takes away a lot of the "human error."

I have 3.73s in my car (I bought it that way). I am not sure what I think about them. It seems like kind of a short-cut. If you make more power, you won't need them. And you won't lose the milage or top-end. Then again, if I didn't have them, I would probably want them.

Can you spin the tires just by punching it in first (no clutching)?

i got 3.73s on my 88gt. it lites em up bad, i love it. but first things first power is nothing without grip so i recommend better tires or wider rims, catching is everything. my buddy has an automatic 67 trans am 400ci with 450 horses and 500lbs of torque and i leave him bad just cause how much he spins.

Yeah, you will need tires. Those gears are going to give you more traction problems. I don't know much about tires. I know the dealerships get really good deals on tires. They probably won't have the performance tire you are looking for, though.

i would recommend bf g-force tires of any kind. i got the g force sport tires. the rubber is pretty soft they leave nice lines and go kind of quick but they grip nice.i had a set of kuhmo tires before they were pretty nice too. 4 17x9 cobra r's stock springs

yeah plan to eventually get new wheels and wanna go a little wider on the back maybe 9.5 or 10 and stick with 8.5 or 9 on the front. with it lowered like it is i just dont want it to rub.

i went from 3.08 (stock 93 cobra gears) to 3.73s and it was a MAJOR difference, im running the same tires i did with the old gears and with the 3.73s i cant get any traction from a stop. but if you have a good tire on and you race from a roll im sure you will have no problem at all beating him with 3.73s.

My car is farly stock and from about a 40-45mph roll ive beat a turboed Lancer MR (littly modded) a 96 GT (midly modded) and 02 GT with a 3valve 4.6 (also littly modded)

you might want to look at rear control arms and new bushings. I bet you have a little wheel hop going on when you get on it and these will help along with tires.
