Default 5.0 emblem location on a 1990 mustang lx

Hello i am a newby maybe someone can answere a question I have about the 5.0 emblem that is located on the the front fenders.I have looked at more that 150 mustang convertibles and and everyone of them has the 5.0 ensemble located between the wheel well and the the door. Mine are located in front of the the wheel well and I would like to know why they are there. 1990 mustang LX convertible.I just bought it a couple of weeks ago and this is my first mustang.I have belonged to a ford power stroke diesel forum for quite some time and understand the value of belonging to a forum.I will appreciate any help here and thanks for letting me belong here.

Welcome to the site! It sounds like someone put them there, I've never seen them in front of the wheels-always behind. Was your car an original 5.0? Check the VIN and driver door data plate.

Question 5.0 ensemble

Thanks for the response. The whole car is origonal,it's never even been wet. I checked the fenders to see if any modifications had been made and there is not a schred of evidence that shows there had been.I can't figure this out.

Normally there are placement holes where the badges fit. Any sign that those may have been patched?

My guess is the car has been repainted at some point and the previous owner put them on, either to be different or by accident. It's supposed to be behind the wheel, between it and the door.

I contacted the previous owner and asked him about the emblems and about the car being repainted. This car is in such beautiful condition that I asked him before I bought it if it had been repainted and he took immediate offense and blasted back with a NO and that nobody has ever touched this car since he owned it.The car is a 10 in all catagories. He owned it for 10
years and his friend owned it since it was new.The car has 75K on it and is like new.I have gone over this car and I know it has not been repainted or wrecked. This is truley a mystery.Any thanks for the input,it is appreciated Fred

Hey sorry to burst your bubble but they are where the others have mentioned. Unless someone at the dealer pulled off the 5.0 emblems from the original location and put them where you now have them.....but even then they are next to impossible to be reused with the original backing intact. Someone at the factory was probably playing around....or else it's not original. Oh BTW Ford also put 2.3 emblems behind the wheelwell for a few years as well.
