I was down the shop the other day getting all my stuff together for my Long tude header,Off road H-pipe and Cat back install...And the Guy at the shop said i should do a nice head, cam intake swap with the Exhaust set-up i should run very good at the track...is he right about that...Plus i would also squirt a 100 to 150 shot on top of that....do you think i could run some 12's with that set up?

a setup with long-tube headers, off-road dual exhaust, a good set of aftermarket heads (like AFR's), an edelbrock performer rpm intake and about a 280-290 duration cam to top it off should easily get you into the 12's. add on a holley 670 cfm street avenger carb and a 150 hit of nitrous and you should be in the very low 12's. however, i really don't recommend nitrous for the shock '85 block and rotating assembly, that might be a bit too much for the cast pistons, rods and crank
Thanks for the info..The 85 block is a full roller motor and Forged pistons not cast....plus its low compression too...on top of that...

oh, ok. '85 was the transition year and i didn't know if you had the roller block and forged pistons or not. if this is going to be a street driven car though, i don't know if i'd do the nitrous anyway. it's really harsh on the motor and isn't street legal in alot of places
Yeah its going to be a street driver..Nitrous is legal to have here..I ran Nos alot so im no stranger to it and i dont abuse it either...so im thinking a good set of heads...good cam..and intake and a 100 shot this should be fly...i hope...lolI think my car already had the 8.8 rear with im thinking a 3.27 gear ...so i think that should be decent for now...

If it's the 1985 rear end, you still have a 7.5, the 8.8 came in 1986. But you should be able to run a mild shot and be fine, and 12's are a definite possibility would good heads, cam and an intake.

Ask me why I ran "only" a 13.54.

Cool ...No the rear must be from a newer car i was told its the 8.8...by the shop doing my exhaust...maybe the orginal blew up and they replaced it with a newer one....

well, if you're gonna do the nos then i would at least recommend you get iron heads like the Dart Iron Eagle and not aluminum. iron may be heavy but it's darn near impossible to bust and will hold a gasket better on the iron block. good thing about the old 7.5" differential having already blown up and been replaced with an 8.8.
