Default strange shocks vs air shocks if even made for foxbody?

hey guys, recently found out my friends 69 mustang had adjustable air shocks in the rear. I thought that was kind of a cool idea to be able to raise the rear or lower and adjust accordingly for what your doing. I couldn't find kits for foxbody mustangs, does anyone even know if their even made? I don't know if this would be a good idea for my 89 gt or not but I was thinking either these or some strange adjustable shocks. I don't have any suspension mods and planning on getting some done somewhat soon because my car handles like crap but I liked the idea of having the air shocks to be able to raise the rear of my car a little and give it that old school hot rod look and hopefully be able to launch a little better and help the rear of my car from trying swinging out on almost every corner.

I also was wondering if it was possible for a stock factory upgraded 92 mustang with slicks to run a 12.9? A guy saw my car and started talkin to me about mine and what he had. he said his is stock other than slicks and some suspension work and that he has factory long tube headers, factory 3.42 gears, heads and intake manifold. I think this is kind of a long shot and I also don't think they even make 3.42 gears for mustangs or come with factory long tube headers. I could understand that the previous owner could have gotten heads and an intake manifold from a explorer or cobra but other than that I don't know what to think? I haven't seen the car in person because he has a blown head gasket. I asked if he used nitrous and he said he didn't which is the only way I can think of for him to get that with just slicks and "factory upgrades"? I might be way off and he got a rare mustang but I'm pritty sure that isn't true right?

thanks in advance

I didn't mean air bags I know they make those, I was talking about air shocks. the ones that just bolt in place of the rear shocks.
if I cant find the air shocks just wondering how do you like the air bags?

The car handles great with them. And I get good traction. I havent really tested the car to much yet. Also I dont know about those (factory upgrades). I don't believe it's true. Ive never heard of any examples of that exept cobras and saleens.

ok thats cool, I just looked at the kits for air bags and noticed there wasn't a compressor or anything involved which I was worried about adding weight and not having anywhere to put it. do they just use a valve stem or?

thats what I was thinking but I'll let him think what he wants. maybe its true I doubt it but it would be cool. I'll wait to see it in person to say anything.

Mine use a valve stem that comes out to the rear bumper. Just like going to the gas station to put air in the tires I put air in my shocks and raise the rear up. Or push the valve in to let the air out .

sounds pritty much like what I want the only thing I was afraid of is with the air bags you get rid of the coil springs right? I'm just afraid that if I ever get a leak in the system or anything that I will be stranded because that isn't something really readily available or as easy to install as the air shocks

That is true. They have come a long way with the technology though.

now for my $.02 worth......

when setting up suspension.......

1. determine what you are going to use the for....
autocross ......drag racing ......weekend warrior
or daily driver or some combination of all

2. budget..... a true air bag setup "Big Bucks"

3. the air shocks you reference are sixty's tech
stay away....

4. the air bag refer to is a traction device to equalize the transfer of weight during acceleration

5. last but not least the mystery GT you mentioned....
sounds like a true bench racer.....the performance maybe exaggerated

6. Again just my $.02......

I'm planning on a little of all but mostly its gonna be my daily driver.

I didn't take the cost into effect because I've never even considered using them until I found out that my friend had them.

and I was thinking there had to be something off unless hes not telling me something. 12.9s other than slicks its stock? I really dont think its possible even if he did have the " factory upgrades". If he proves me wrong all the power to him thatd be awesome but I really doubt it.

What do you guys think I should get for struts and shocks? are the strange adjustable's good? I've heard about a couple people that liked them but would like your guys opinion?
the reason I liked the idea of the air shocks so much is because of how adjustable you could be with them depending on what you were doing and needed.

The Strange units are great, from what I hear. That's what I want myself.

the adjustability on those is just for dampening right? I was thinking either those or some lakewood 50/50s but I have heard that those are rough on the street?
any other recommendations are appreciated
