i was just wondering if an 89 is/was rare-er or cost more or in any special way better than the 87-88-90-91-92-93 cuz its the anniversay car..is it just the same exact car but with an emblem on the dash?

The 1989 Mustang retained its popularity for the model year despite being considerably like the previous model year. There were fewer GTs produced in 1989 as the 5.0 LX "Sport" made an appearance. Some buyers preferred to buy a used 1988 Mustang rather than a new 1989 simply because they were practically identical.
Of course, the Mustang remained one of America's favorite cars. The history and style of the Mustang was appealing to many and this combined with incredibly affordable base prices continued the Mustang's popularity for 1989.
Also, 1989 marked Mustang's 25th anniversary. However, it was almost as if Ford overlooked the pony car's big milestone. This was because only halfway through the model year were any anniversary models released, and then the only recognition was a small anniversary plate that read "25 years" with the running pony on the passenger side dash.

Wasn't 89 also the first year for MAF systems? I had an 88 GT and it was still Speed Density. '89 was also the first year for the Airbag in the Steering wheel. Welcome big ugly steering wheel. LOL!!!

Unfortunately, that's all Ford did to signify the 25th anniversary, that little dash emblem. There were a few with a lower rocker panel with running horses and "25th anniversary" on them but I'm not sure if that was a factory item, I doubt it was. They ran the length of the door.

Hey well since I have an 89 LX I'll add my 2 cents in. Airbags actually came on the 1990 versions and NOT on 89's. Also as you have stated not all 1989's are 25th Anniversary. Mine is not. It depends when they were built. Also, 1989 was the first year of the MAF system. Baddass....did you happen to find the build sheet on your car?

the pin was only put on 89 that were built in april and may I believe..I have one of these cars..bought it knew other than the pin the sticker with the price had 25th on it..that's it...

i also had an 89 lx that wasnt a 25th aniv. car. and yea they didnt have the airbag wheel until 90. i concurr.

I also agree that the air bag came in 1990.
I have a 1990 with the air bag and the 25th emblem on the dash
