Exclamation 1983 Mustang, help on emmisions

hey i am working on cleaning up my engine compartment for my 83 mustang and making it look a little more organized. i was told by a friend that i no longer needed my emmisions equiptment in my car. was he right? what can i do or take out of my engine to clean up all the wires and stuff.

You can remove the smog pump and all the vacume line that run to it. remove everything and just plug the hole in the back of the block with a copper bolt that fits. They make specific delete kits or you just get a smaller fan belt and bypass that pump and pulley. This is what I have done, but check your States emmissions laws first. Your car being a 1983 I woulnd't think you would need to worry about it.
