Default Just wondering what you guys think this would be worth

My uncle has a 1986 mustang gt 5.0 believe he has just over 7,000 miles on it... its been 100% garage kept but not washed/ran since 1992. (never seen rain just dust lol)

also we were wondering what kind of work would need to be done before even attempting to start it.

thanks

just a thought? maybe you could enter the VIN #, mileage, etc. into KBB.com for a rough guess and see what it tells you. It sounds like a pretty good car.

A 1986 with just 7000 original miles? It'd be quite a bit, you should have it appraised.

Not what it was worth last year and you need to find the right buyer.. last year they were taking 60's muscle prices but the market bottomed about 7 months ago and now it is a buyers market. I would say between $12K and 15K to the right buyer who had that car as a kid (if you know what I mean). Before you even put power to it you need to check every ground and all major component power run for continuity... mice can be a *****. Drain all the fluids and change any life component i.e. plugs, wires, cap, pcv, battery, and anything that smells or looks funny. Drain the tank 100%... most people forget this one and regret it later. Hand crank it several times after fluids are changed and give it a crank... Good luck and I would love to see some pix of it... I had a 85 and 86 both with t-tops and still think they had the best seats ever. I will gaurantee that it backfires on your 1 to 2 and 2 to 3 shift... It is the EGR that is doing it..just disconnect the harnest from the ECM and it will go away.
