Around here on craigslist everyone seems to be unloading their stangs pretty cheap good time to be shopping for one. If you want an all original car it's goin to cost you, but even than it isn't too bad around here.

Yea, its crazy to see so many Foxes selling for prices of 10,000 and more. I find this incredible considering new they were only $15,000, maybe $17,000 if you got a GT convertible...definitly going to hold on to mine
What they sold for new has nothing to do with anything. Fox Mustangs, at least nice ones, are no longer just "used cars". Not antiques, except for the early ones, but definitely "special interest".
I've got a '56 T'bird that my Dad bought new for $3800. I could easily get $25 to $30K for it now. By your way of thinking, $500 would be fair???

I think you may have missed this persons point. As a car ages it losses well over half it's value, some cars dip down to 10-20% were as the Mustang's never see this level for a well kept example and as per this persons claim the foxes are already climbing back up in value present day. While the foxes are not yet antiques they have reached classic car status (20 years old).
Btw nice ride your dad has. T-Bird's are one of the most underated cars that deserves much more attention for its looks, content, and value. Sadly they cost more, are much better equipped, lower production numbers, but sell far less then the cheaper bang for the buck Mustang's.
Only SOME people want a nice, untouched stang. I personally didn't and still don't. I WANTED a modified car, providing it was done the way I wanted. Took me 18 months of steady looking, but what I found was a really great car. I paid $8,000 for a one owner 45,000 mile car with all original vermillion red paint and black interior. Never winter driven, never wrecked. The guy gave me $16,000 in receipts for MODS done to the car. Literally everything you can do to a Fox Mustang has been done. Except a blower & I had one of those & didn't want another. One guy I showed the car to told me he had just spent $2,000 on his car converting it to the interior mine came with.
Americans LOVE cars and Mustangs are right there at the top as an affordable performance car that, depending on how you drive and your mods, will still get decent economy. My car, with all it's mods, still gets 19 to 20 town and 27 highway. I recently inherited a little money from my Mom. Toying with the idea of putting the '93 up for sale & picking up an '03 -'04 Cobra. But, my Fox turns more heads than a Cobra would! Young guys really give it the eye. With the dark windows, they can't see the driver. They are sure surprised when an old gray haired 64 YO gets out!
i dont want a stocker either, but everyone i know wants to start fresh, or start from a car that was modified correctly. at the very least, a car that wasnt wrecked, and if possible, have the desireable all black interior. also, i subscribe to every stang magazine out there, and ive noticed a growth of car clubs for mint condition foxes.(i imagine thats very hard to do since everyone wants to change their stang)
