Default question about engine swap..

i just bought a stang...and its in very rough shape. its a 91 lx hatch, and its missing the dash, pcm, engine, and hood. my plan was to do a nice restomod, since foxes are becoming hard to find

i have to get a wiring harness and motor anyway, but after januaury, i will have a stock 2005+ gt motor with frpp heads just sitting in my shop. i was planning to install that motor(after stroking it to a 302) and the tci prepped tr55s tranny

ive seen mod motors in foxes, so i know it can fix, but my question is this.. will the stock hood clear the top of the motor? also, do i need a new K-member? will the firewall need to be trimmed and will i need to cut a new hole in the floorboard for the shifter? any info will be appreciated.

yea, i know its gonna take awhile..my goal is to have around 400 n/a horsepower, use the 05-08 auto tranny..but with a tci stall, and shift kit, and turn the wheels with 3.73 or 4.10 gears with a lsd.

if it doesnt work, i do have a 306 longblock and a vortech s trim sitting around (was gonna be my 68 fastback powerplant)

i think im selling the 68..so that wont be an issue..the car is too far gone in my opinion. if i clean house and get rid of everything but the 306 and s/c, i should have enough money to fund the 5.0 build, or some of it. i would still like to run the 05-08 auto tranny from tci. it resembles the GM 700r, and with a stall, shift kit, and gears, it comes alive. (if your wondering why im set on a racing automatic..im 6' 7" and have a 16w shoe..i dont have the room in a fox for moving, much less shifting)

To make that swap, there'll be a TON of work involved, a new k member, pcm to operate the trans which is huge. You'll have to modify the trans tunnel, it'll most likely contact the trans itself, and then a new shifter hole. Double check about the shift kit for it, I don't believe there is one because it's shifting is controlled by the pcm. I might be wrong about that, double check the availability of it.
You'll need a hood with more clearance, the 4.6 is definitely taller than the 5.0 and you'll need the newer engine computer for it as well.

i know its alot of work, and i was prepared to do it, but im thinking it would be more practical to just throw in the 306 with s-trim. it would cost less, take less time, and be able to keep it looking stock.

the gm 700r is a good trans and i saw a kit to bolt up to a 5.0 maybe that is the way to go cause to put in a newer elctronic trans with modification sounds like a lot of headache to me

ive seen several terminator motors in foxes, but that was the first one i saw without having to use a 4" cowl. that scoop looks like the 94-98 stalker hood, but i have never seen that hood
