Default 89 gt fog light install problems.

I decided to spruce up the appearance of my car a little bit over my spring break. I purchased lx tails and gt fog lights. The fog lights that I had on the car were put in there by the previous owner. They were of a aftermarket variety. Anyways my new fog lights are not installing properly at all. The fog lights are sitting way to far back and are leaning forward as I tighten the bolt on the harness. What can I do?

Any suggestions. I am thinking of bending the brackets or trying to hang the fog lights upside down. Would either of these strategies work? I think something is wrong with my entire front end though It seems to be ok. NO obvious damage though. Please help.

Where did you get the fog lights? I have replacement fog lights on my 88 GT and had no problems….the lights mount to the original backing plate, the mounting stud was on a swivel and that is used to adjust the lights, the backing plate mounts to the fiberglass portion of the interior bumper on the top portion and to a large metal brace that runs the width of the car on the lower section. I have been thinking of a way to mount the lights without the crosspiece and backing plates to save on weight….I bet it would be a loss of 30 lbs. Hope this helps.
