Default Stock new edge GT coupe 5sp fast or slow?

I am thinking about trading my 02 Maxima SE for a 01-04 GT or better 5sp coupe but I wanted to know if the new edge would be any faster than my 90 with my given mods below if so a lot, not much, or not at all any opinions and comments are welcome.

im not certain, but i think the 281 2valves were pretty respectable..they are alot heavier that the fox tho, so your current stang may be "faster" overall. im nt one to turn down buying a stang, but i might keep the maxima as my daily driver..MAYBE

I think I'm going to go with fordboy86 on this one. But I think it would be nice to get a 'new' stang. I have a friend that had an 03 GT and it was fast, a little faster than mine with the given mods.

You also want to think about your daily commute and how much you might sacrifice giving up the Maxima.

The Maxima EPA is 20 city and 26 highway and that's on premium I usually get about 24 overall my daily commute is only 26 miles and the 01-04 stang's EPA is 18 city and 26 highway on regular of course if I can keep my foot out of it so the gas might be a little more if the EPA s are correct. Of course it might be a little wrong to have 2 cars and 16 cylinders or 9.6 liters.... with $4 gas. Thanks for the imput everyone it really is helpful.

The new edge would run door to door with the 90 you have.

the maxima uses premium and gets the same mileage as the new-edge stang does on regular...thats 1 reason to trade off. they seem to have roughly the same hp(maxima come up on top) and over-all gas mileage, so why not.

go ahead and trade in the maxima if you want. my only concern would be trying to conquer the winter months in a mustang...maybe a front wheel drive car would be better in that case

i would buy another mustang and keep the maxima.

Wow really does that mean that my 90 has about 260 engine hp?

I guess I should just test drive a new edge and see if I could live with it as a daily driver. If so I will probably sell the maxima (its paid off) and use the cash for/towards a Gt coupe. If its not then later once I get the money up I might just buy a GT as well. Then I have to decide which car doesn't get the garage. It'll probably be the stangs ha sorry maxima.

^No, it means that with the hp to weight ratio that both cars would run side by side. The Fox's are lighter than the New Edges are so the Fox does not need as much power to make it run as fast as the Edge.

I would say that your car might have 240-245hp, that is a somewhat high guess but assuming that you do have a healthy 5.0.

I finally drove a 03 GT 5sp coupe with 55k miles and 03 cobra rims the dealer wanted $13,000 for it I feel like that was a bit high but I'm not to sure. Anyway it was not as strong as I though it would be my 90 GT felt a lot faster and even my Maxima feels like it would keep pace with the 03 GT is that normal? Thanks again for everyone's input Im not sure yet what I will do but I'm leaning towards keeping my current setup.

It takes a little while to get used to the Mod Motor, my 02 GT never felt as strong as my 92 GT does down low in revs.

Keep the maxima as your daily driver . 255hp and a 5-speed for that price in a mid size car is a great daily driver and I always thought that the maxima has not looked good since the end of 2003 model year. Shakerhood I agree with you about the mod motor. A friend of mine bought a 98 GT with 225 horse brand new in 98 and I always though it was a dog compared to the 5.0. In 2002 he traded it on a new GT with 260 horse and I though that car was a little weak down low but once the rpms came up it was very impressive.

Nice working ash tray I just fixed mine and yeah I think I will keep the maxima its an auto as well which sometimes is nice if I get tired of shifting gears in the stang maybe in a year or so I'll get a 03-04 cobra or saleen after I build the 90's motor and finish remodeling my house OK maybe 2-3 years haha thanks to every one for your comments.

I was wondering if the new edge GT feels much stronger with a set of 3.73s or 4.10s in it and does anyone know what they have stock?

Yeah its just like any other stang you put gears in, it wakes it up considerably. My dad has a 99GT and a 2001 Roush both with 4.10 gears, the Gt started with 3.73's and he later bumped it up to 4.10's, to say the least it got it moving pretty good over stock.
