1982 my exhaust is cut off under my metal fuel lines is this why my car is vapor locking???

If the exhaust is right there, it could be boiling the gas in the line causing the vapor lock.

that was my guess. i put a tip on it to divert it away. i also think it could be my mechanical fuel pump.
