I am currently converting from an auto transmission to a T5 manual. I have a '86 T5 and a '65 289 V8. The bell housing will bolt up to the block, but the clutch arm and throw-out bearing will not work. The clutch arm hits on the pressure plate. The pivot for the clutch arm is to long. Does anyone know what configuration will work? Do I need a different pressure plate, one that is "shorter from the flywheel, or do I need a different clutch arm?
