Hi i just took my 88 gt mustang to maaco last monday and i called them today and they said i should get it back by wednesday , im getting the color changed from maroon to speedway blue there some body work there doing to the hood ,bumper and under the spoiler it cost 812 the paint it self was 500 and the rest was the prep and body work , when i first came into maaco there work was pretty good considering there was only ricers in the parking lot .I would of like to have gotten a 3k paint job but its not worth it for that money i could buy another mustang i just want to hear some responses about maaco becuase im scared becuase i did my own body work too and the manger scared me he told me if i mest up on any of the body it will show up in the paint
your kidding right????? you didnt really take your car to macco!!!
THEY DO LITTLE TO NO PREP WORK.... what so ever they barely touch the surface.. which is one of the MAIN reason they are the WORST paint shop in America.... they have you fill out paper work about how you like the paint job when you get it back... sure it looks great for the first few weeks so you give them a great review... then a few weeks pass and the paint starts to looks like sh*t. it starts to chip and peel. the only way i would ever think about saying it was ok to take it to them is if they did ALL their own prep work... and just gave them the car for paint only.
sorry but that "cheap" paint job is what your going to get... your going to kick yourself square in the ass. when you have to pay for a good paint job AFTER paying for their cheap crap.
I had a 1968 Chevy painted at MAACO. A drunk sailor would have done a better job. The drunk sailor has more than five (make that three) minutes experience painting. Three minutes experience is all that it seems is required to achieve "Master" status at MAACO.
MAACO should not be allowed to operate in States where fraud is prohibited by law.
Maaco is like any other body shop, some are good and some are bad and some are in between. It depends on the owner of the shop. The owner may hire good workers or he may not. The key is to get involved. Go there and take a look at your car every couple days and don't pay for the whole job in advance. That way you have leverage if it comes back crappy. Bad job = no $$. If you did your own prep work, it better be good or he'll have some leverage on you
I hate to admit this reading what everybody wrote, but Maaco was the only place i could afford, and they did a great job. I stopped in every day and took pics along the way. They did body work and primer and base coat clear coat. add pearl in the paint also i requested. Looks sharp with a 1 year warranty on fading and chipping. $1600 I'm happy with them.

I've seen both good and bad work, it can change from shop to shop. The differences between a good and great paint job is in the preparation so I'd say do all of your bodywork and then check their paint job examples, a good shop should be able to show their work.

I've heard the shops around here are pretty good but i've heard the stories about the paint fadeing and chipping after only a few months.
