i shifted into 5th at 5000 rpm not hard and ive done it before, it only revs, 1 thru 4 and rev are fine, its a T-5 with only 5000 miles and never been raced what happened........

My only guess if you dont get any power out in 5th is that your clutch is going out

had the t-5 die in my streetrod but I lost all gears as the main shaft went out I switched over to a tremec much nicer just need to chang bellhousing and clutch if you do. I really lucked out though as happened on 81 coming back from York PA. Nice guy named Burt stopped unloaded his street rod from th etrailer put mine on and drove me all the way to my house.

Might not b as bad as u think... 5th gear is in the tail housing of the trans. There is a snap ring that holds the gear in place. I had the exact same problem where everything in the trans worked fine except for 5th. If the snap ring pops off, the gear walks forward and wont engage. You can pull the tail housing off and fix this in most cases. Though pulling a T5 is so simple is may be better to do it on a bench. If its not the snap ring the gear may b stripped but its unlikely.... IT's NOT a CLUTCH issue or the need for a total rebuild... Should be an easy fix

Instead of starting a new thread I thought I`d ask in this one. Mine is slipping out of 5th gear but not under power just when I let off to coast. Any ideas on this?
