That is very cool and rare car would love to have one....

living up to my nature here is a little more info on it.....

The most interesting and different-looking 1981 Mercury Capri was the Black Magic, a base-model option package. Though offered in white or black, Mercury pushed the latter because of its tie-in with the name. (Some dealers ordered a white one and advertised it locally as a “White Magic” to have something new to show potential customers.)
The Magics were loaded with delicate bright gold accents, nameplates, and striping. Grille bars were gold-edged, CAPRI lettering all around the car was gold plated, bumper rub strips and body-side moldings had gold striping set into them, and the bodysides were outlined in gold striping that ran along the beltline, turned down at the front fender edge, and followed the top of the side rub moldings. At the front fender’s leading edge sat a cougar, or cat head, also in gold. The Magic was fitted with TRX forged aluminum wheels—gold, of course—setting off the whole package and commanding attention.
The interior of the Black Magic Mercury Capri featured GS-type low-back buckets done in a unique black-and-gold vinyl-and-cloth combination. White cars had white window frames and louvers, white taillamp bezels and lens appliqués. Black Magics also had the RS hood scoop, Rallye suspension, rear spoiler, and gold license plate frames. The Magics were mildly successful, as 4,588 left the factory.
The 1981 Capri received some new and interesting options, too, among them a T-roof selected by 6,543 buyers. Also introduced were a premium audio system, power windows, and Traction-Lok differential. The tilt steering wheel, dropped for 1980, returned, but the cast-aluminum wheel option disappeared, leaving five wheel styles. Leather upholstery was now offered on all models, save Black Magic. The base model’s $55 two-tone paint job featured silver metallic mid-section body-sides with black, charcoal grey, burgundy, or navy blue upper and lower body panels.

I guess black and gold was bangin back in the day? Those rims are horrible im surprised there werent some deep dish hammers on it. This was spared some of the upgrades of the higher end cars, such as leather seats, did it come with a v8? or was it just put out to move the base models?

except for the gold wheels I think that car would look beautiful with some weld rims on it to offset the black and gold paint.

Can't believe it had gold TRX wheels but since that's what was being used back then.

black magic

I just picked up a 81 black magic off Craigslist 2 weeks ago. The car has been sitting for over 10 years. The 2.3L turbo engine and 5spd trans are long gone. The car is a t-roof. Still has the gold TRX wheels. I phoned Ford of Canada and asked for a history 999 report, but told that it would take 6 to 8 weeks to get since they have to do some research on the car. I would like to know how many came with the t-roof and turbo 5spd? I plan on a 5.0L and AOD very soon I hope with in the next or 2 I do need to find a grill for the car, so if anyone knows of any parts that would be great thanks

Nobody is gonna be able to tell you that, except Marti Auto. And Marti isn't yet ready to sell reports for '80 and later model years.
