im no expert... but as far as ive seen and read. the 331 has a better rod angle than a 3347 when its put together, so i think it spins easier and revs higher... dont quote me though, im onlt going off what i've read
but i have a friend that built a 347 stroker with a set of afr 205 heads and an e303 cam, and another friend that built a 331 stroker witht the same heads and cam... and the 331 has outrun the 347 on the top end everytime they race
I just built one using a balanced kit from summit. it was an Eagle kit. 10:1 flat tops, I rods, crank, flexplate, balancer, bearings and rings. It was about $1600 and added a high volume oil pump, girdle and for racing gasket kit. I used GT40X (303) heads with crane 1.7 roller rockers, comp cams retro fit roller cam 224/230 duration with 512 lift (corrected to 542 lift with the 1.7 rockers). Parker funnel web single plane intake/ holley 750 dbl pump, underdrive pulleys, large tube headers with flowmasters (40's), electric fuel pump and cooling fan. March serpentine belt system, mini high torque starter. 3500 stall converter with a B&M shift kit in the C-4, 3.73's and a ford trac loc.
Mega shifter and sun pro monster tac w/shift light. sub frame conectors. I am into the whole thing about 6K. not bad for a free car thats 30yrs old....I just let the air pressure down to 10psi and from a rolling start .......yee flippin ha!
It was a lot of cash but I don't think there are many rides around that can beat it. I took it across the scales at 2750lbs without me in it. That was with a full tank of fuel, case of oil and tools. I plan on a trip to the dragstrip soon with the street tires and mufflers on it to see what it does. The next trip will be with slicks and uncapped headers. I am debating about a roll cage. It adds weight and isn't required until 11.49 ET. Any guesses if it will need a cage or not?
I would hate to spend a day at the track watching cuz it ran a 11.20, they are pretty picky out here.

The car has the potential to run the number.....
i would go ahead and install the cage.....
not only will it satisfy the safety requirement but will strengthen the chassis which will also aid in traction.....

Has anyone built this combo with an EFI setup? What kind of HP is it putting out?
Just curious cuz I just so happen to have an old block lying around just begging for some attention.

One note: The Scat kit #1-94055BE is a Nodular Steel crankshaft, not a 4340 Forged. I know you just put forged, but people may mistake it....just an FYI. Another thing, The Patriot Performance heads are a decent head for a "BUDGET" build and have made some decent power, however dont use them on a 351w, the torque spec for a windsor seems to crack the head as it doesnt seem to take it.
