They should be legal in California.

Glasspacks are loud!
I know this because I used to set off car alarms in my ol' '97 v6! Funny thing: I used to have to push my car UP a hill when I was sneaking out of my parents house at night and then start the car!
I don't know how they'll sound on the 5.0s though. I've never personally heard them on the GTs.
Personally I don't like cars that are TOO loud, but there is a difference between muscle loud and obnoxiously loud...

glasspacks sound great, i have them on my 'stang and everyone loves the sound, myself included. and, as long as you have tailpipes, they aren't ridiculously loud, but with dumps under the car, yeah, they can set off car alarms from 50 feet away.

I got some on my 78 bronco with flowmaster tips they sound good on the 400M! Also an old school trick with the glass packs is you can heat them up with a torch or something then spray water in them (waterhose works fine) and the glass will come out of them and make them a little louder if you want to be that loud!
