Default Fox body front end swaps.

When ever I'm on ebay or sometimes Craigslist I always seem to come across 1979-1986 Mustangs and even the occasional Capri with a 87-93 nose on it. This has always baffled me. Only reason I ask is that I'm curious on why someone would convert a 79-86 to a 87-93. I'm seeking opinions and some insight to this. Its your car and you can do what you want to it, but just curious on why.

(moderators, if I posted this in the wrong spot feel free to move it.)

i was planing on that swap i have an 89 gt with all the plastic in good shape. personally i dont lik the n non-gts before 87. i didnt like any early fox body(pre-87) until i found my 82 gt.

the reason for doing this is u can get an older non-gt for less money.

Because some people are fools imo.I have yet to see a conversion that looks good. The molding don't match up right. Why butcher up 2 stangs to make 1 that looks like crap.

I think if you want an Aero-nose go buy one. Don't give mess up a good Mustang to make one that looks like crap. You're right, it will never match up right and will never "feel" right.

I also don’t like the swaps because they are difficult to do and have everything match, plus the 4 eye stangs are getting more scarce.

Most people think the Areo style fronts are cleaner looking and alot of 4eyes look tacky with the plastic lens covers. The original foxes were never THAT popular anyway. I think its like the 95-96 bodys some people cannot stand them and some cant get enough.

i guess its just a matter of taste

i would never butcher a four eyed car that way

but then i like them.....

on the subject on butchering how about putting gt ground effects on a notch.....

For supposedly not being that popular, Ford sure sold a whole bunch more '79-'86 Mustangs than they did '87-'93. About 600,000 more.

What I meant is that everytime I read something pertaining to the history of the 302 or of the foxbody its always about how the 87' and up brought back the Ford muscle car and really pushed the 5.0 H.O to the fame it has today.

I personally think if you want an aero style, get an 87-93. Leave the 4 eyes alone...
