If you don't mind, I'm going to ask you to elaborate on these heads and a couple areas. First off, I just don't think honestly the guy knew exactly what he was selling. Because when we did the CC test, (plug in, and filled them with water), we came up with a 62cc. Laying the pistons on top of the combustion chamber, they were a pretty good overlay.
In relation to the max valve lift, can a person modify that area of a cylinder head to increase the valve lift? And is there a way you can take a head and actaully test all that instead of going on "word of mouth" I am assuming if your valve lift on a cam is more than the max valve lift on the head, hence you get a blown valve? I'm asking because I don't know and once again maybe somebody, someday might be wondering the same question and stumble across this thread. I have all the confidence in the world when it comes to my engine builder, but I dont like comming across to him as though I'm second guessing him or bothering him on a weekend with trivial stuff. If that makes sense.

Well anywho, I did nothing yesterday. I've got the "yuck" and feel like I've been ran over.......four times, in a very slow methodical way. In part, everytime I've come back from Iraq my body has to re adapt to real food, clean air, and the overall enviroment. Plus it is flu season. So hopefully I'm over this crud by Monday.

The JEGS man, however did pay my doorstep a visit yesterday with my new distributor, and Moroso valve covers, polished aluminum. Chrome would have been an option to BUT, chrome only comes on steel, and I didnt want leaks from steel valve covers, just to get the shinny effect.
http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z...f/100_0249.jpg

I'll be on and off today. For right now I'm going to fire up the 360 Live and play Call of Duty 4. ( I guess you can take me out of combat, but can't take the combat out of me)

*Feen, you been added
Sorry Pete, I don't know much about testing the heads... I'm sure one of the other guru's will come in and let you know though.

The "crud" has been going around here, and I'm sure it's especially hard on you since you just got back. Just drink plenty of water, I'm sure you learned that in boot camp. When I went to military school that's one thing they hammered in our heads was water Water WATER!

Off the original topic- I have Xbox 360 Live but barely ever get on. When I am I'm playing Halo 3! Other than that I usually bounce back and forth from Ninja Guiden 2, Forza Motorsport 2, Assassins Creed, and so on. If you don't have these games you HAVE to try them. Ninja Guiden is my all time favorite, it will make you feel like a bad a$$, and Forza is almost TOO realistic.

By the way, thanks for the comment on my profile. I'm glad you liked all my pics.

Well if no one comes along to explain it, I'm pretty sure Kenny will give me a class on it. No worries.

I went down and put the firewall to hood seal on to check that gap in the hood. And walaaaa its good to go. It kinda surprised me because initially it didnt look like it was going to be wide enough. So Cervini's gets an overall A on their products. Would have gone A+ if it came painted

Yeah, water water water. Figured I would stack a couple Crown and Cokes, along with some NyQuil as a chaser the other night....yeah think I'll stick with water. lol Although I did sleep good.

I completely agree with the A for Cervini's! A little more expensive than some of the other brands but pays for itself! I'm glad that piece worked for ya.

I find that a couple shots of Jack Daniels is an excellent cure for a mild cough or sore throat. But yeah, Crown and Nyquil should cure sleepless nights! LoL

I'm still learning a lot of the engine stuff as I go, I've got 2 engine rebuilds back to back. I'm currently working on a Chevy 350 then I'm moving on to my 302. So I'm learning more as I go. The best thing is that my dad is letting me do ALL the work and he's just supervising.

Alright, it's been awhile, but a quick update as things have been moving along.

I got my stuff cleared up on valve springs and all that good stuff. Got all my rings gapped and filed 3 of them a little to much, which than had to wait on new ones to get here. Small town like this no one stocks the total seal type.

I ordered out my transmission and clutch today which should arrive no later than Wed of next week. The plan is to put the bellhousing and clutch onto the block, and then drop it in the car.

I'm drinking a 12 pack of Coors Light tonight after spending the money I did on the tranny just to calm the nerves a little.

I'll have some recent pics of the painted car tommarow and get this posted along with pics of the engine.

Which trans and clutch are you getting?
And what rear end gears are you putting in?

A 12 pack AND some crown?! That's the best way to end up face down on the garage floor, with the bottle in one hand (none spilled though!) and a 1/2" wrench in the other hand!
On these cold days we've been having this week, I find that nothing warms you better than my good ol' friend Jack D.
Hopefully you get some work done this weekend while it's nice, because it's supposed to get REALLY bad on Monday...

Tremec 6spd, intersting stuff I found out though, I thought the
T-56 they put in the 03 / 04 Cobra would be somewhat if not the same....nope. Other than they are not interchangable, the one I got is actaully more stouter and built better steel shift forks, 31 spline which is different than the 03 04 Cobras. Its just a better overall transmission.

Clutch - Still up in the air and I'm glad you asked, anyone know about the Zoom 2.5 clutches. I would like to go with Centerforce, but if I get the clutch from D&D they will give me a deal, for thats where I got the trans and kit. They dont do Centerforce, but they spoke highly of the Zoom brand. IMO, they would be the subject matter experts, but any other info would be good to before I purchase it.

I also got the install kit, driveshaft, crossmember, all that so it will basically bolt right in. I already have the article laid out where they did the install there are a few things along the way Im already aware of to tweak, but overall prepared to make it happen.

4:10 Gears

Off topic- When I reinstall my caster camber plates in my engine compartment (keep in mind the new paint) is there anything to put between the plate and the strut tower to keep from having metal on metal contact so that when I do adjust them they dont sctratch and dig into the paint? I hope that made sense

I have seen a lot of threads about the Tremec T-56 6 speed, and ,Rich, the Tremec Tech guy says that they're not very useful unless you're going to be going over 100mph... I mean, since it's Tremec, it's a good product just not very useful. The 4.10 gears should help out with that though. And it sounds like you've done your research on it so it should be a pretty simple job. I think it's a good "conversational piece" though, to say that you have a 6 speed.

I don't know much about clutches, but I'm sure Reg. will chime in and help you out with that one.

And if you need to, you might be able to find some thing rubber bushings to keep your c/c plates from scratching your new paint!

i have used the spec 2 on your basic combo.....

with regard to the "off topic"

nope just care & patience

lots of teeth grinding and cussing.....

keep some touch up paint handy......

I'll be in my garage today, off and on. I got the black LX sold, I think, but the dad just wanted to see the interior back into the car before he bought it for his son. The question he asked me last Sunday was "How soon can you have the interior in the car?" My wife, over my shoulders says..."4 hours, if we can get the time" So we are doing that today, hopefully it's gone Sunday morning. At least he can get some seat time in the car, before the weather turns ugggggggly.

Default SWAP DONE...almost

I got my cherry popped in swapping interiors in a fox body. The titanium grey interior was put into the black LX (the black everything out of the LX is being used for the GT. WOW. Everything works fine considering the whole dash minus the metal brace and harness was removed to put the grey stuff back in. Well almost everything works fine and I'll leave that till tommarow I might have to post a seperate thread. But with EVERY project there is always that one bolt or one nut, well without fail lmao, yeah......

Low and behold the kid (16) his mom won't let him buy the car which is ok. So now in the garage I look at this car and it's almost like in comparsion you know that stray dog in the nieghborhood, you try and say "well gee I really wanna help it and keep it but I already have 4 dogs" LOL thats where i'm at now, after driving it to go get beer earlier.

Total time to put a COMPLETE interior/seatbelts/seats into a foxbody....(with taking a little pride and cleaning all the dust and dirt off stuff) provided you know where all the screws are..... day 1/2. Oh, and by the way thats my wife who has done a removal twice now.....and 1 install. For me probubly would have been another week before I was able to make this post.

Me and my wife were joking, while working about "wives, who won't even keep their husbands company while he changes spark plugs"......we got a pic for that so stay tuned

well there is nothing like baptism under fire.....

glad it worked out (sans not selling car)

it's great that the wife takes part in the car hobby with you......

i have one of those that won't keep company when i'm changing the plugs......
which is ok.......

i her defense she doesn't get upset with me when i work on the car or spend money on it.....

its funny when we go to the track and it runs good or we take it to a show an it wins a award it becomes "our" car.......

glad you had a good weekend......

I wish I had the money to get me a little FOX body to build just for the track. But I already have so many other projects right now it's not even funny.
A 5.0 for a 16 year old isn't the best idea.

My wife is one of those that won't keep me company when working on any of the cars. But I don't give her too much heat over it, cuz I don't keep her company when she's keeping up with the house.
BUT, we have a '57 Fairlane 2door hardtop, that I told her she could have, but she has to help rebuild it! (the altimatum!)
