Yeah, whateva Reg.
Wednesday (New Years Eve) was pants, sweater and jacket weather, then Thursday (yesterday) was almost perfect. I was walking around in jeans and a T-shirt. Then today it's back to cold.

So at least there in Florida it's consistant... Oklahoma's weather can't make up it's mind!!!

Niether does Oklahoma Reggie, and lol, I'd rather try to outrun a tornado than a hurricane anyday. Ah, but maybe the future might hold a vacation cabin in Fl.

Well just to let you all know, the initial tgt date was to have the car at least running in 56 days. But we're not quite there. A couple things, though frustrating, is not the end of the world, and I realize that. A few things very worth mentioning. The car would have had the engine / trans in it last tuesday, HOWEVER..lol...

- Kenny my main help in motor and trans is the manager of the Auto Shop on post. He was preparring for a "safety inspection" and he decided he needed to put a bulletin board up. Well while he was drilling the hole through the cinder block to mount it, he ran the drill bit through his hand.

Needles to say, he did pass his inspection, but it took him out of the loop for a week or so. It's kinda funny the irony in all of that though.

- Even w/o the drill mishap the motor wouldn't have made it in, why? Because....well I'll simply say this ALWAYS, ALWAYS, check the part #'s to what you get, and what you ordered. We didn't and now there is some back tracking going on. Connecting Rods

My 56 days of leave/vacation flew by. Kenny didn't realize how fast it was moving but the end is just about here and I'll be leaving to go to California on Monday......

But wait, before you think this thread will end...um no. My wife is going to pick up the ball and run with it and now EVERYONE involved with this build understands (my wife has red hair, she spoke) that the car MUST be done (as much as done is) and drivable no later than May. I know my buddy Kenny feels really bad, and is kinda ticked but "whatcha going to do?" Rome wasn't built in a day lol So yes, I'm moving but my wife and kids are staying back in Oklahoma. I have to come back in April for school and then we will all move in May. Plus the kids get to finish school and I wasn't about to pack up a house, family, 2 dogs, and cars during the holidays.

So now you get some insight to military life, while not in Iraq, and why it's damn near impossible, being in the military to really haw jaw over a project. It has to get done, you have to have a plan, and the end state needs to achieved in a timely manner without cutting corners, as with all projects.

So last night I fixed my wifes avatar (she has had an account), and she will be posting to keep this thread alive.

Hind sight always being 20/20, we would have gotten the car to paint way much earlier. The rut we kinda hit was, the car was in paint, the motor was kinda getting worked and I was learning...BUT had the car been out of paint I could have alternated between the car and the motor, very small interior things, fuel pump change, and battery relocation kit. Becasue it was still in paint, I wasnt able to do it. Lesson learned for the next project..

So shortly, we figure a week to 10 days, she'll do the pump install (BBK 255lhr) and mount the battery box in the hatch area, while the back tracking for the engine parts is being done.

- Things coming up on the order list-
* A/C System from LRS chrome compressor from JEGS

*FRRP 5-lug conversion 31 spline axles/ Detroit Locker?/4:10 or 4:30 gears? I'd go 4:30's IF in 6th gear I'll be cruising lower than 3000 rpm's

This should conclude the "big ticket items" we hope. Then it's all the little things that beat your wallet up 40 ways to Sunday.

As far as interior, we'll go rear seat delete, (so as not to have to fab the Bullitt rear seat to fit) plus room for a clean install of an amp for the stereo. We aren't very big onto having 7 12" subs to rattle our screws loose.

Roll cage we're on the fence. But before the interior goes in I think this needs to be installed

Anywho, I'll be on and off etc, but thats whats going on down here. LOL, and I'm leaving the truck with the wife, ( I have always felt better about if her and the kids were in an accident I'd rather them be in the truck) vs what I'm driving to Cali....lol It's embarrising and I'll leave it at that. But, it's not RICE.

And BLUE...I'd go AWOL, but then I'd be behind bars making a new friend by the name of Bob.

Also, feel free to ck out "my photo gallery" took some pics of my Bullitt seat last night

Ok, so are you actually MOVING to Cali and not coming back to the OK?
Cali has REALLY strict emissions testing, so... FYI...
I looked in your gallery and didn't see any picks of the seats. BUT that is a gorgeous Boxer! I'm not a huge fan of dogs but i've always liked boxers. My aunt actually breeds boxers. Even breeds boxers from 2 show winning Champions.
You have an awesome wife. I love this thread, because I love seeing a project coming along. It reminds me of when me and my dad were restoring our '34 Ford. But that took us 5 years, including 2 years in the paint shop (long story). I also like to show my wife, to show her how much your wife is taking part in this project.

I hope you're not actually moving to Cali permanently. Because I was hoping to get the Mustang people here in OK together at some point. And kinda start a AFM Oklahoma Mustang club or something.

4.30's are a little steep, but I guess you're not building this as a daily driver or nothing, so they'll work really well especially with that 6speed.
Put that roll cage in before the interior. Don't give yourself more headaches than you need.

*have your wife send me a buddy request, so we can all stay in touch.

Default Introduction

Hi, guys! I thought now would be a good time to finally introduce myself to all of you.

I am Heather, Pete's wife, and I get to finish the car....and the thread I guess for the most part. Obviously I have kept up with all the things that have been going on with the car, and I have read all the posts thus far.

I will do my best to keep up with Pete's humor and information in all his posts. I hope you guys don't expect too much from me. I don't tell stories nearly as well as he does, so I hope you all don't get bored or anything like that.

I also suffer from that notorious "TO MUCH TO DO, AND NOT ENOUGH TIME" syndrome. Life is busy when the Army sends the husband away....LOL.

For the time being, I am in a holding pattern while waiting on the replacement parts for the engine. I may buy the 5-lug conversion here really soon just to have something constructive to do on the car. Not sure yet.

Keep in touch all of you and keep posting your comments and suggestions for us.

I know that I hope and I am DARN sure that he hopes that those are the kind of updates he can send himself....otherwise he is one very bored individual cause he has no internet access...LOL.

Thank you guys for the warm welcome! Seriously I hope that I don't disappoint you guys cause Pete is really funny, and I tend to be way more matter of fact. I don't use the humorous twist very well when I tell stories. I am a technical instructor by trade at this point, so things are more factual for me.....if that makes any sense to anyone.

Once the "rebuild" train starts rolling again.....I will be on here to let you all know or ask one of my millions of questions.

Thanks again guys!!!!!

You gotta hate the down times when doing a build like this. When we did our '34, it spent 2 years in the paint shop. One of those years the people barely even touched it other than to move it out of their way. We paid them a couple hundered for fixing some holes, then sent it to someone else who actually took a full year working on it. Those were 2 VERY long years. It did give us time to fiddle with the Flathead and some of the wiring though.
It'll be over before you know it. Then you'll be looking for your next project!

I am an electronics repair tech/instructor by trade and working on my BS in Electronic Engineering Tech.

I tried for Engineering, but couldn't find an online school that offers anything but Tech degrees. I guess by now, I am trained to be extremely analytical.

Our jokes and humor at work tend to be vulgar to put it kindly. I am no longer in the military, but I train soldiers and work very closely with soldiers and retired military. We are really a varied and strange group...LOL.
