Ok a bit of background, I wanted to basically start a daily thread, or every other day, on the bit of work ahead of me. I just got back from Iraq Sunday. While I was gone (12months) I have dropped about $19,000 in to my car (most of which is scattered across the garage floor). If Its ok I would like to do like a daily journal (pics included) as I put it back together, all in 56 days. I'm on vacation till the 9th of January. So in the next month 1/2 I will be assembling the engine, and completing the paint work, and get it all back and running. I think it might make for a good thread.....something like extreme mustang makeover in 56 days. Let me know what you guys and girls think?
i personally will look forward to the daily updates
good luck with the project......
if you need any advise you know where to find us.....
lol, I'll go into more detail, in the morning. But being on leave I dont plan on working that many hours. And IMO I wouldnt really consider it working when it comes to this car. Advice, etc is the reason I thought I would do this. Not only would it give insight to the guys "scrolling around" but also if you see something that may be a shortcomming, than please post it.
I just need one more thumbs up, and I'll start this up in the morning.

Have fun with the stang you will enjoy working on it. Thanks for fighting for our freedom. This country would be very different without people like you. Thank You
The car looks like it's coming along great. I love the intake, and I'm not that big of a chrome fan, but WOW it looks good. Keep on posting pics.
Are you living on the base down there in Lawton?
I've got a friend that is going to school down there too. If you haven't already, you have to go to the mountains there (Mt. Scott). There are a lot of hiking trails and other places to roam, but everytime I go there it kinda brings me back to earth.

Definitely, go for it. Maybe you could keep all of your entries in one thread rather than a new one everyday? Not that a new thread a day would be a problem (it wouldn't be), it'd just be easier to follow the progress easier rather than looking at 56 separate threads.

Well to start it off a few particulars about the car; Puchased off Ebay in 2007, found it on Ebay while in Iraq(2nd tour), and told the wife to call the guy and inquire. Sight unseen purchased the car the later that week. The pics below are the original pics as it was advertised. It already had some minor bolt on's and suspension changes, 104K miles.
No problems at all with the car as we drove it whenever for about a year or so. One thing that stood out while doing an oil change one day was that the rear main seal was leaking a bit so eventually me and the wife knew we would have a reason to "upgrade" the car and it's engine. As with most, "where would we get the money to do it to our standard we were looking for?"
In Sept last year, (07) that question was answered as I was told I would be returning to Iraq in Nov 07. During that time in between, we sourced my good friend, Kenny, is the supervisor of the Auto Craft Shop on Fort Sill, Ok, to work up a plan for the engine. 347 was our choice
We also wanted to improve the cars exterior, by adding a hood, and eventually just going with a whole new body kit, and new paint job. My neighbor, who I'll refer to as Mr. Cooper, has been doing body work and paint for about twenty two years. He does the work himself and is the only employee in his shop. It was a no brainer after seeing his work on several of his cars, that his work was show standard.
As a few weeks went by, she felt as though she was kinda falling behind, and had really pushed the limits of her welding abilities. A co-worker Heather works with, suggested having her brother finish it up as he has a history of paint and body also. He did and in the course of about 2 months, a bunch of payments in beer and steaks, it turned out pretty good http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z...f/100_0165.jpg http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z...f/100_0163.jpg http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z...f/100_0203.jpg The day the car actaully got loaded on the trailer and moved to the paint shop, he was still "not done". lol But he did a great job. As you see the engine bay is how it looks right now. Next week it will be painted as we continue along. As far as the paint and body work, tommarow I'll be clearing out on side of garage, and going to work with Mr Cooper, http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z...f/100_0204.jpg We will start and hopefully finish tommarow, taking the body kit out and simply mocking the car up. Its Cervini's stuff so I am pretty optimistic, that the fit should be pretty close initially. After that the prep and paint will follow. The cool thing about this, is that I can come and go from the paint shop and hang out to assist. I look at this as an oppurtunity to learn and get my hands dirty. Where as if it was anyone else, they would just call me when the car was done.
Interior Originally grey, and a search was put out to find a black interior. We pondered peice mealing it all but then you run into some pieces not being "as black" as other normal fading etc. We went the route of buying a complete car. LoL http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z...f/100_0209.jpg The grey interior will eventually make it into this one. Just need to decide when I guess. If you are interested the car is for sale and is not stock. Inquire within.
So my other 1/2 of the garage looks like this, http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z...f/100_0206.jpg It may not look like a lot but in there is a complete black interior and stuff. Also worth mentioning, the seats off to the right of the pic, are out of an '01 Bullitt, 33k miles. I won't go into disclosing every dollar amount for every part in this project, but if it warrants it and its worth mentioning I will. In this case, $700.00 for the front and rears. I can attest to the fact, we have A LOT of parts that will not be reused on anything here, so I had to get an additional storage unit for that stuff. It allows better freedom of movement within the garage.
Thats all I'm going to post for right now. In my next posting I'll talk and cover the engine and drivetrain route. This initial post here got really long, but I think its cool to give a good idea where this started, and where hopefully it will end up.
A HUGE credit, more than words can say, has to go to my wife for her dedication to this car also. In a year she pulled two interiors, welded, turned wrenches, and at the same time works 40+ a week, is a step-mom to two kids (8 and 9), and has to keep two boxers out of trouble. I say this becasue as most of you all know, I am active military, and military spouses sometimes get overlooked in thier role while a husband is deployed. And on top of that, add the mustang hobby.......I think I did pretty good choosing this wife
So anyways, welcome to my little corner of this board and my thread. Hope you enjoy the ride

I live off post...after disclosing the contents in my garage etc....I'll simply say I live on the west side of Lawton. Ive raced up at Norman, friday nights. AWESOME college town. OU rocks
We've done cruises with the cars up to the top of Mt Scott. It was the last cruise this car was on. I have the video on You Tube if anyone is interested. Let me know, and I'll post it

Man, where did you find your wife?! I can't even get mine to come out and keep me company when I'm changing HER spark plugs. LoL
You have got A LOT of support it sounds like, and you've earned every bit of it. That engine bay looks better than new!
Post the vid. I want to see it.
