motor and tranny were both rebuilt like 10 years ago and then it was parked soposed to be in real good condition. gonna check it out pretty quick. did that year have any gt ground effects on it? sounds like a good place for and 05 or newer gt 4.6 3 valve mod motor swap also did they even have t tops that year?? this car is supposed to be all original with the metric rims and all.

1983 was the only year the GT was built without fog lights. The panel surrounding the headlights was also the body color, that was black on other models. But there wasn't any real ground effects on the GT that I know of.

Which models did or did not get "raccoon eyes" (blacked-out headlight buckets) is unknown. My '83 GT did have raccoon eyes. Other '83s (GT or otherwise) did not. Some '82 and '84-'86 had them, some did not.
check out my profile pics for some original '83 mustang shots. '83s did not have fog lights or ground effects making them one of the lightest fox-body GT's there is. most do not have 'raccoon eyes' headlight, and the cowl hood makes for tons of space for high-rise intakes, carb spacers and air cleaners.
on the bad side, '83s come with a weak 7.5" differential that you will want to get rid of as soon as possible. most people don't like the 4-speed tranny that came early in the year either, but i love it, it's a blast to drive.
if this car really is in good shape for $350, i would buy it in an instant, especially since it is a t-top. sure, the tops leak and the wind noise makes a radio kinda pointless, but these cars are getting rare and are sooo fun to drive.

Not all hoods had a stamped hole beneath the rear-facing hood scoop. My GT (built in July) doesn't have a hole.

That four-speed (SROD) manual was available all model year. Once the five-speed (T5) was available in December, the four-speed was still optional and came with an invoice credit if ordered.
well i still havent seen it. the guy that has it is a trucker so hes on the road alot and the car is like an hour away at his "shop" sooo prob. be after thanksgiving before i see it. but ya if it even close to clean im getting it. havent decided what i wanna do to it keeping stock ant a bad idea supposed to have like 80,000 miles on it but you know how that is.
