I have just purchased a cervinis ram air hood with the ram air induction kit. I am wondering whether I should get hood pins for this hood or not? Also Cervinis advertises : " Bolt-on 25 HP with Cervini's Ram Air Kit. Mounts to underside on hood. Increases 1/4 mile performance, .3 seconds and 3mph." I believe they also say that it works from 40 to 70 mph on their website but not sure. Does this mean it only works between these speeds or that it works best between these speeds? Also in my new Road & Track they say "...10bhp under good conditions, while true ram air is worth only 1-2 bhp at 100 mph." Who is right?

I have their hood/ram air kit, and I wouldn't ever put hood pins on one of Cervinis' excelent hoods, just use the hinges.
While at low speeds, the ram air will feel like a cold-air induction kit, mostly cause your not going fast enough to actually ram the air into the engine. And the ram air will be functional above 40 mph or so, and it does make a difference, my car is more responsive at high speeds.

cool thanks for the reply. I didnt want to get hood pins but i heard that on aftermarket hoods it is a good idea. Cervini hoods must have the safety latch on them or something. I have one more question is the ram air decal worth buying from them or does it look wrong?

I don't know how well the ram air effect is but.....the hood pins? Use em. I've lost a 3" cowl hood on the freeway. I WILL NOT lose my brand new Cervinis Stormin Norman! Hood pins!
That's odd that you lost your hood. My ram air hood has been on for 15,000 miles with no problems. It stays locked down with both of the original factory hood latches. It doesn't even vibrate.
If latch, safety latch and bumbers are adjusted properly you will not need hood pins with Cervini hoods.
I had Jesse's (Stalkerstang) 88 up around 130mph with no problems at all. Not even a shake out of the hood. Also had her doing 80 mph with a very heavy head wind, no problems.
My 90 has one of Cervini's 1.5" cowl hoods and I buried the needle way past 140mph. SEVERAL TIMES. Again no problems.

Well right now my hood is lost in the shipping freight. I have to wait a few days to see if they can locate it but I dont have a good feeling about it. I have insurance on the shipping so what will likely happen? Never had this happen to me before.

I noticed that the cervinis ram air box connects to part of the original that gets the air from the fenderwell. Would it be good to some how block this off and have the air be more direct to the engine. I am not looking to gain more power. I am just wondering if that would be a better overall system?
