I'm the proud owner of an 86
Stang Convrt. I cruised all summer with the top down and haven't had a single issue with her. But I guess problems are to be expected especially with her age. Yesterday on my way to work I blew (I believe) a
trans seal. I have the 4 speed AOD backed up to a 3.8L. This summer I plan to drop a 5.0 in with a tremec T-5. But I don't have the cash for those parts yet. I can't just let her sit til I do the swap because she's my ride to work everyday! Now if it is just a bad seal I'm sure I can replace it and be done til swap time. But if the
trans IS shot I don't want to go out and buy another AOD when I plan on buying the T-5 anyway. Now I do have an AODE from an '01 V6. I'd like to swap them if I can but I'm not sure if it'll match up. I know for sure that my AODE is computer controlled so will I even be able to do it? Are the
trans' roughly the same size? Or will I need to get a different drive shaft? I'm no
tranny mechanic but I'm sure I can do the swap. Any advice or anything at all would be extremely helpfull....
Help me AFM! You're my only hope!
Also...I may just end up stealing the entire drive train from the 01 as the frame is junk anyway. Is that another decent option? I need some realistic direction here. Thanx!
