Hey what do you guys think about gear drives, I like the way they sound, just seeing what you all think?

Well I will go against what everyone else is saying and tell you that they transfer harmonics and are noisy and just junk. Look at people who have high performance motors, either a chain drive or timing belt, I think that says something.

Don't get all hurt on me, you wanted opinions and I gave you mine. If you want to run one go ahead a do so it's your money and your motor. I was just saying that I would never run those in my car or any of the cars I build.

the gear drives are really hard on roller cams. being a billet piece of steel it is not very forgiving. but at a reasonable rpm level and being hydraulic it souldn't be to bad....
I've had nothing BUT gear drives, and there's a noisy Pete Jackson on mine for the last 16 years. Never had a problem with it. I don't mind a chain, I just happened to get a gear drive and it's reuseable provided it doesn't get worn out. The thing still looks new, it doesn't even have a wear pattern.
