Default Anyone ever heard of this?

I was talking to my dad about my engine rebuild, and about tricks he learned back in his day for cheap HP.

He actually told me about using chevrolet connecting rods. He said that using Chevy rods will actually give the pistons a little more dwell time at TDC...

Has anyone else ever heard of this?

So would that be the same as the whole "putting the piston on backwards" thing?
So would that be another 15-20 HP gain?

I'm also guessing that doing this COULD cause some piston to valve clearance issues with a higher lift cam and bigger valves? Or would it not be enough to make that much of a difference?

first the chevy rod is 5.7 inches long. then the pin diameter is different. a longer rod will give a longer dwell time, but hp increase would be very small if any. sometimes a longer rod will be easier on cylinder walls bepending on which engine, but usually no h.p. advantage.
