Thumbs up 1993 Mustang 351w coupe vs 1994 Camaro z28

There's this kid in my class that is almost POSITIVE that his car is going to beat mine. He's got a 94z28 with a K&N CAI, Granatelli MAF, no cats, and stock exhaust and claims 320rwhp. I find this very hard to believe.

I have not got the chance to race him yet, due to a bum tire (damned curbs!) but I am going to as soon as I get one. Question is, how do you think my car would do against him?

I've got

351w (94 f250 block) .30 over w/forged internals, Aluminum F/W, Liquid filled Balancer, Underdrive pullies, A/C Delete, Port/Polish stock heads with bigger valves, Edelbrock 600, Edelbrock Victor Jr Intake, FULL MSD Ignition, Electric Fans, Tremec TKO, Auburn Posi Pro with 4.10's, Solid mounts, BBK Headers w/ Hpipe and dumped flowmaster 40's. Running on Stock 2000 GT suspension with Lakewood 90/10's, subframe connectors, 17" 96 cobra wheels with 255/40/17 rear, and 245/45/17 on the front.

You think I've got him? I've been outta the scene for awhile and really don't want to look like a dummy.

I would bet on your set up as long as its a motor to motor race. If he's spraying though i don't know. He sounds like the kind of guy to forget to mention about the spray.

I'll let you guys know soon as I get a tire. I was thinkin that it was a no brainer, but you're right. I won't know till I do it.

Far as I can tell, my car GETS it compared to my old 306. And the whole swap didn't leave the wallet too light.

There's only one way you'll know for sure. But please take it to the track.

Ran him from a 20 roll. Me and my sandbaggin ass! =) I was right with him and he was pushin that z for all it had. I was only 3/4 throttle shiftin at 4500.

Next time we'll be at the track. No need for tickets whilst my quest for a bigger ego is in play

I need to get some slicks bad. There was a guy with my setup running slicks on stock suspension at 411 and he was runnin a 7.30 in the 1/8th which to my understanding is pretty damned fast. It definitely was one of the faster cars there.

I'm shooting for an 8.30 on street tires. I'm new to this 1/8th mile stuff too.

I apparently missed this, I see it's from 2 weeks ago. A 1994 Z28 came with 275 hp, I highly doubt just a K&N, CAI, Granatelli meter and no cats but stock exhaust will add 45 hp. He might have 300, so you get some traction you should have him.

Some of you guys may disagree, but LT1's are a joke...

The 93-97 Z's are gutless. They might have "275" HP, but they are heavy, and they have very LONG gears. Yeah on top speed he may take you, but if you are talking 1/4 mile, I don't think he will be an issue...

If that 351W had a good set of aluminum heads, that thing would scream

just waiting for that money to roll in for them heads.

What would you recommend?

And I"ll race him again. Soon as I get some tires that are worth a damn.

*sigh* I didn't stop hearing about it all day today at school. I just smiled and said yea you got me BUT..... I'm gonna tear him a new one at the track.

I don't disagree about the LT1, at the time they may have taken the lead when talking stock vs stock, but they're not unbeatable like the owners claim.

And what would we recommend for heads?
AFR 185
TFS High Port (skip the Twisted Wedge)
Brodix M1
Edelbrock Victor Jr
Dart Pro 1 195

The only reason I would stay away from high ports is because getting headers to fit (especially with a 351w) is going to be a pain in the @ss.

will other heads from previous years work or do I have to stick with the 94 style heads?

Have fun wasting another lame camaro. After you stomp his guts out of that car at the track, then you have bragging rights.

Pretty much any SBF cylinder head will work. I'm assuming you don't have emissions, so most aftermarket heads will work fine.
