I may put the short block together tomorrow night. I just hate the humidity here, things rust over so bad real quick. Waiting...waiting...........waiting. I think I will put it together tomorrow. Heck, I need to measure pushrods anyway.
What color should I paint the block?
Black of course......

Technical question here: One of my heads was surfaced .005" and one was surfaced .008". Will that hurt valvetrain geometry or pushrod length, intake manifold seating, or anything else like that?

i would do the heads silver.......
no you will be ok with regard to surfacing that should be what it was required to get them perfectly flat....

Silver is my favorite color next to black or a good blue. Thanks for the answer Reg. I'll be going to the parts store tomorrow and pick up some more paint.
OH! F.Y.I: ARP engine bolt kit.... Includes all bolts and hardware to attach stuff on your motor, DO NOT purchase it if you have an EFI 5.0. I have one, came with millions of bolts and washers... Only bolts that work from the kit are the header and lower intake bolts.
Needless to say, ARP is more than happy to do some bolt-trading.
ugg, you realize how hard it is to follow all my favorite threads when im working 12-14 hours a day + hour and a half drive time to/from? Damnit dont they realize that im busy with mustangs!?!?!

Well guy's, does anybody want to tell me why I can't upload pics? It's been acting up for over a week now...
I got the short block together, painted and everything. Painted the heads SILVER and the block is BLACK. haha it looks good but I just cant get this to let me upload pics... hmm

I haven't been able to upload pics lately either... but I think it's just our crappy computers here at work.
I've been seeing other people post pics up lately though.
I want to see the progress!

Ordered break-in oil and more arp thread sealera couple days ago. I also had some hardened heat-treated pushrods on the list but they wont ship out until the 7th. Guys, I am going to start putting the motor in as soon as the pushrods get here, then it's off to the races! Haha, no racing yet. BUT, I now have a fully assembled long block, oil pan to head bolts, and intake, ready to run after the pushrods get here. I wont be on much until the 7th, but I assure you all it will be running this time. All the problems are fixed, all parts accounted for, everything is in spec and tight. I still need to get some pics uploaded soon too. Bear with me! Hope you all aren't loosing interest in my thread... haha goodnight...
