Yeah it's not too bad at all, considering I am having Oreilly's machine shop do the block and heads. They have always done great work for me and it's on the less expensive side too.
This is just a suggestion, but if you have the money, you should do a mild GT40 setup. GT40 heads, intake, and a mild street cam. You'd probably come out spending $2000 instead of $1100...
I like what you did with those valve covers though.
You could also check into hiding those wires and hoses to make that engine bay look a million times better. I'm going to attempt to hide the wires and hoses on my car when i do my rebuild. I'm just afraid I'd get in over my head...

Here is the fresh oil pan after a night in the hot tank and some sanding and fresh ford gray paint. Would have went with black, but I wouldnt be able to see any leaks so I went with the gray.

I have big plans for the next few months with the motor. This is just a temporary factory rebuild to freshen everything up. I'm going to be using a 331 stroker with AFR 185's, A custom grind Comp Cam, roller 1.6 rockers, hardened pushrods, and hopefully find one of those tubular intakes that I have had my eye on for the past couple months. I'm going to get the block freeze prepped and clearanced for the kit. Canton 7 Quart pan and melling oil pump. Accufab TB and spacer, and maybe even get rid of the A/C. Not sure yet.

I hear ya. I only want to take my engine out once to rebuild it and not take it out again until I replace it with a 351W!
But when I do the rebuild I'm going to attempt to clean up the engine bay real good. I HATE seeing all those wires and hoses EVERYWHERE.

Wires and hoses are not the most pretty thing under the hood. I bought about 30 feet of new plastic wire protector stuff and I'm going to try and put it all in one area of each side of the bay. My motor has only like 4 or 5 vacuum lines that are visible so I'm going to go with that fake braided steel line covering and try to spruce it up a bit I guess. I'm a clean freak when it comes to my car. I live about a half mile down a dirt road so it gets dirty quick, even though I can walk faster than I drive down it lol.
I got bored again. I took my rusty old polished intake and got it looking new again thanks to Turtle Wax Chrome Polish. That stuff works great!
Gotta love the Turtle Wax Chrome Polish! It works wonders on our old cars. We like using it on the grill and bumpers on our '34 Ford. The grill will almost blind you in the sunlight!

I wish we all lived closer together...nothing beats hanging with the mustang guys and a cooler of beer...maybe haha and a B-B-Q
Yeah I also used the Turtle Wax on my 69 F-100 grill. It's made of aluminum but it still looks better than it did when I first got it! I am very satisfied with the results from Turtle Wax.
If you like that, I'm sure you will like this. My upper intake cought my boredom with some low gloss black, and some silver implanted to the recesses of the runners. And I painted my plenum cover a few months back so I had to wash it and make it pretty too. I think this paint will add 2-7 horsepower depending on my cars mood HAHAHAHAHAAAAA
I got the intake black and silver. Do you guys think I should paint the valve cover with the silver instead of the blue for the highlights? I personally think the silver is better looking...

I'd go with the silver for the sake of symmetry
that manifold looks great....
