Well guys I took the cam to the machine shop to get it fitted. Other than that, the block and head is ready to go. I will pick it up next week like around April 3rd probably. That will give me a weekend project to handle. I got everything I could think of covered with a couple layers of gloss black and flat black. I will order the rest of the bearings and assembly lube and oil and stuff after I pick up my block. I am renting an engine stand for now to save money for the rest of the build because my job got rained out this week. Is there any pics you guys would like to see? I'm out of things to take pictures of for now until I get back my parts. The block will be painted black, should I paint the heads to match? I saw a really nice looking metallic blue on a set of heads the other day that didn't look to shabby.
Oh very funny man...verryyy fuunnnnnyyyy. It was 87 degrees all of last week, now they are calling for 7-12 inches of snow. WOW.. Want to come to Missouri for a little while? If you don't like the weather, stay another hour it will change again.
I hear you on the weather BS. Early last week I was walking around in shorts and short sleeved shirt, then it SNOWED on Saturday. Not much snow but still... it's the end of MARCH!
Those headers look real good, although I've heard that header paint sometimes won't hold up to the heat. I think as long as you give them plenty of time to cure then you'll be fine.

Thanks buddy. They will have about a month to cure, so I think I might have it whooped. This rebuild is going to take more time than I thought. I am also getting all new sensors and taking care of the alternator TSB, they said the factory plug is causing fires in fox 5.0's....
I'm thinking I should have this car running by April 20th, well that's the plan at least. I'm always finding something that needs attention on the thing.
I found more parts to paint! I am going to take off my calipers and rear drums... Pics in a little while! Going to pick up my block and pistons tomorrow. I'll have pics of that too.

Painting your calipers should be pretty simple. That's what I want to do to mine next, just to kinda liven it up a little...

I finally got the calipers painted up. Ford dark blue again
Sorry the tires were dirty and I think I'm going to try and paint the inner fender wells black to match and flow a little better with the rest of the black on the car.
You Sir are a true testament to the spirit of hot rodding....
Doin' it Old Skool....
That just made my day, man. Thank you! I was feeling kinda down...I was out in the garage looking out the window at my first Mustang I ever bought. It was a 91, first one I ever even heard of when I was a lot younger. It sits, uncovered, hacked up, dented, smashed, crumpled, WRECKED...cut in half with a sawzall, turned into a parts car from its original state of being a perfect car. The poor thing.
Anyway, a 5.0 is about as old school as I get, even though I long for a 69 GT500 or something of that caliber.
BUT... I was watching Bullrun last night. The Shelby they have on there is no exception to not have a spot in the garage, too. Right after the Fox..haha.
I'm feeling froggy. My wheels and tires are wore out. Tires are about 500 miles away from showing wires, I have a bent rim, less than 75 percent of the chroe is still on them. I figured I would take care of the rims and tires all at once. Hopefully after I get the motor done I will have room for this package.
I used to have a set of Cragar rims on my 69 pick-up. I was dumb enough to sell them so I could have enough money for the bigger carb.....ugh.
I wish I had a little ranger pick-up. I think I am going to get one from the junkyard. When I worked for ford, there was this guy that always brought in his Ranger for service and oil changes. The only reason I liked his Ranger was the Cragar's, the shortbed, and the 302 he had in it. It was a nice little truck. It would $h!t and get...haha
I used to like the Bullitt wheels, but I see them EVERYWHERE where I live. You literally won't go a day without seeing them on some car. They look good, I'm just burnt out on them...
I have always liked a FOX with 15" drag wheels though....

The only news on the motor I have as of now is that I am going to pick it up Wednesday. I won't have news on the heads for a week or two. I think I'm going to try my luck again with a port and polish...maybe help out the cam a little bit. I will have pics of the motor uploaded here Wednesday afternoon.
I would like to get the drag wheels, but only for the 89. The 89 is an LX, I just don't really feel moved by the draglites on a GT with the ground effects and all... The Bullett's are cheap, some people like them but yes they are getting all to common of a sight but nobody here has money for rims or anything like that because all they spend money on is weed and liquor
So I guess while they are frying their brains I'll be putting my money to good use and probably getting my car to look a little better than it did before. I was thinking about the FR-500 wheels but they look a little bit too ricey for the GT.
