Thumbs up The 302/306 Motor Rebuild 1993 Mustang GT

I started out needing to replace my timing chain and gears. All that went well, then I got bored and decided to pull the motor out for some inspection because the number 8 cylinder had low compression. So now my 35 dollar timing chain is turning into a 1100 dollar total rebuild. She is getting punched out to 306 (.030 overbore), new aluminum pistons, all new bearings for cam, crank, and rods. New cam, lifters, springs, valves, seats/guides, and the like. New oil pump and pickup tube. Getting the heads and intake milled, block and heads cleaned and I will be painting them myself after they are done and gone through good. Here are some pictures I have of my parts before I send them all off to the machine shop.

I have painted my valve covers low gloss black an painted the bolts for them ford dark blue haha

Ok. All recent pics are updated. I am sending the parts off to the machine shop either later today or tomorrow. Then I'm going to get started with cleanup of the engine bay. I'm going to put new plastic covers over the wires and hopefully get my K-member cleaned and painted with some Rustoleum...then some of that low gloss black. Then I will be in the process of running all new vacuum lines and replacing the fuel and air filter.

i remember a certain 88 lx getting freshen up and becoming a dart block 347

don't know how that happened.....

Back from the machine shop. The tech said I could re-use my stock cam if I wanted to. I decided to go ahead and use it for now but later on I want to get a custom grind cam from Comp Cams. I was wondering what size cam I could run for just a little lope at idle and nothing to radical, just a daily driver. Any suggestions?

I got bored after I got back home today so I threw some blue highlights on my valve covers.

Just polished my crank with some 400 grit "polishing paper", and some cheap oil.

be careful with the crank doesn't take much to get a journal out of round or nick something....

I just sanded enough with the cloth and oil to take off the small amount of discoloration, not near enough to change the geometry of the crank. I'm extra careful when it comes to things like this.

Yeah thats 1100 for EVERYTHING. Injectors, block and head work, bearings, seals, pistons, align bore...and some more goodies later.
