Default Lookin to join the ranks of the legendary 5.0

So like I previously stated I have been looking for a decent 5.0 for a while in my area now and so far have only been able to come up with this: 1991 Mustang 5.0 LX Convertible I haven't been up to actually look at the car yet but it does look particularly well from the pics, unlike the other half demolished 5.0's in my area lol. So I was wondering if I could get a sort of "target price" from the seasoned vets of this forum to talk the owner down to because in my opinion anyway 3.5K is rather high. I have emailed the owner and asked a couple questions already such as tranny type (I really don't want the slushbox) and if there were any modifications done to it already (that would take away from me buying it haha). So if we're lookin at a completely stock 5-speed '91 5.0 LX Vert what should I ask for?

That price doesn't look at all out of line for a stock, low miles car. 5.0's are plentiful in East Tennessee so one only has to "craigslist" mustang in cars to find examples on a regular basis. I personally see beaters as low as 700 bucks to 93 Cobras bringing 20K or better. A word of advice is to get the best car you can. I bought a 750 beater to restore and mod and really wish I had bought a 5-6k starter.

3500 is not out of line for a stock 5.0

the car in the ad looks good from the pics

i'd offer 3k but would not have a problem going the other 500.00

good luck & keep us posted on the outcome.....

Yeah like I said before I am new to the whole Fox body thing. I found that the longer I looked at the pics the more I am liking the car, which makes the price all the more reasonable hahaha. I'm still waiting for a reply from the owner because if it has the 5-speed I'm so going to get it! I will also be sure to keep you guys posted as everything comes through!

If I was you I would invest in them beat up 5.0's your talking about. I have 3 right now and am always looking to buy more. I bought one for 300 bucks and had to literally dig it out of a pasture with a bobcat and chains... for the price of filters, fluid changes and a new fuel pump and gasket kit for the motor it runs like a top.

The car didn't look bad for the price IMO. Keep in mind that a 90-95 Taurus or econo-box that's used up (over 140k miles) still brings over $2000 if the body is decent. This is a Fox Mustang 5.0L.

I bought my car for 700$. Runs and drives and all that. Just needed alittle body work and touch up paint. So far i'm about 90% done and about 100$ in. Not bad!

That vert looks very clean and looks nice. 3500 seems like a good price for it since it has fairly low mileage

That looks like a solid car. When I bought my 90GT in 05 I paid 3,500 dollars for it with 124k milage. I found the car on a mustang website and the owner lived in ohio so I made him a deal that if he would drive the car to me and I did not like it I would give him $200 for his trouble and send him on his way. If I liked the car I told him I would pay the full 3,500$ plus the $200 for bringing the car to me. Needless to say the car was as promised in the ad and I bought it. The only issue it had was a leaking oil pan gasket that did not need repaired right away and I knew that the owner had faith in the car to drive it over 350 miles just to show it to me.
