Well what makes a Cobra a Cobra is mainly there motors.... Better performing 5.0s for 93-95, 32V DOHC for 1996-1998, 1999, 2001(305+/- HP) and Supercharged 32V's for 03-04 (390HP). A close second is there rear suspensions which from 96-04 was a fully Independent Rear Suspension(IRS). They usually have stronger transmissions and better brakes as well. People also like there white face gauges and different/ usually upgraded seats.

Awww man I wish... the 03-04 SVT Cobra has a supercharged 4.6L 32V the only time the 5.4 was used was in the 2000 Cobra R (385HP) and that wasn't supercharged.

Just FYI... The IRS was only used on the '03-'04 Cobra's.

Ford didn't switch to the 4.6L until 96. Up until then the Mustangs V8s ran 5.0s. now what seporates the GTs from the Cobras is one the power. the motors are putting out a good deal more that the GTs and in the case with the SVTs (fords Special Viehical Team) each motor was put together by hand by 2 members of this team. you will find a plate on the motors that have their signitures attached. And as far as swapping parts out on these cars it kills the value to a true collector because they are all serialized to match the car.

The 1993 Cobra had a softer suspension which gave it better handling over the GT. That goes against the way of thinking but it's true. The springs were lighter rates, the sway bars were thinner, and then the brakes were light years better as well.

Ask me why I ran "only" a 13.54.

Really? Ive never heard this and it really doesn't make sense. I always been told the 1993 Cobra R had stiffer springs, koni shocks, larger anti roll bar, and a strut tower brace along with the larger brakes.

93 - 95
had the cobra intake which gave a lot better airflow
cobra trans which performs like a real tremec, not a 5.0 t5
96+ cobra had the 4v per cylinder instead of the 2v per cylinder gt
96-98
gt-260hp
cobra-305hp
99-02 about same
gt- 280
cobra - 310
03-04
gt - 280
cobra 400hp and a LOT extra.. retail today is about 18,000 nice seats, surround sound, body kit, 3" exhaust stock, eaton supercharger, list goes on..

Sorry guys, I know that also, so I dont know why I typed 5.4
I guess I was "sleep posting" as someone said it not to long back.

Yes you are right 1993 Cobra R has much stiffer springs, DA Konis and STB but GT anti roll bars. The "plain" 1993 Cobra without R has softer suspension: 4-cyl rear springs and thinner front anti roll bar, but stiffer rubber bushings on control arms.
