whats your thought between 165 and 185 heads?? Looking at AFR
Just wanted to get your thoughts between AFR 165 and 185 heads. My intention is daily driver with ocasional strip visits. whats the power/pros/cons/extra $$$ between the two. I'm leaning to 165's but not exactly sure yet.
Mods to be made:
trick flow intakes
TFS1 cam
73mm MAF
70mm TB
and all supporting fuel mods

On a daily driven 302ci I think 185's are a bit much. The 165's would work real well with a "weekend warrior" type 302. The 185's would work better on a stroker or a mostly track driven 302. Just make sure you get a good intake for those heads.

okay, that helps. I was thinking about the trick flow intakes. I hear they're pretty good...I am on a bit of a budget too...so thats why I was thinking about going with them.
Oh and one thing I heard, people said C&L is crap for MAF. That true?

+1 The only time 185cc should be considered on a 302 is if your planning on spinning it well past 7000 rpms and using it mainly for the strip. You'll lose air velocity and efficiency, and be very sluggish on the streets in the lower rpms.

yeah over 7,000 isnt exactly ideal for a street car...I think 165 then. Now there is like 4-5 different 165 AFR heads and I'm not sure which will do the best for me. theres like 58cc or 60cc, I'm not really sure what all that means

AFR's + Budget = LoL, those are on the expensive side. But they are WELL worth the money!
And I've never heard anything bad from C&L....

lol AFR's + Budget ...yeah I know...those alone destroy any kind of a buget. I just don't want to spend a lot more than I need to. Good to hear nothing bad about C&L. Any other MAF that would be a little better than C&L ($151 for their 73mm)
