I only use ARP. Since you already have the rocker arms, they're probably 3/8". But if you can exchange them for 7/16", they will be stronger.

That doesn't sound right. Do you have pedestal style heads? What's the part number for your AFR's?

Thjose are a pedestal mount. You use stock replacement rocker arms, fulcrums, and hold down bolts. They do not use a stud for an adjustable valve train.

What you need is something like this:
Crane Cams 44746-1 - Crane Energizer Pedestal Mount Roller Rocker Arms

Will the afr heads have the pedestal mount rocker arms work on it with no machine work done to them? Also can i buy just the studs from somewhere because i have already purchased ford racing 1.6 ratio rocker arms?

I don't believe you need them. If you do use them, you have to be sure and used only hardened push rods.

Also do they make 1.6 ratio rocker arms or should i just go with the 1.7 rocker arms in that package what would be my best bet with my setup and just fyi i have a 306 with 8.75:1 pistons with afr 165 heads, comp cam roller lifers, 270 in 276 ex duration with .512 in and .512 ex lift, shorty headers, edelbrock high performer rpm intake, 650 holley carb

thanks in advance for the help

With your set up, I would stick with the 1.6 rockers. A little extra lift would be nice. But you'll also add about 3-4* of effective duration. You might not have enough compression to make use of the duration you have. No sense making it worse.
