Default where is the factory amp at for the stereo????

I have an 93 GT and I started to put a CD Player in it since the cassette player did not work. I installed the CD Player in it and it still does not work. The only thing that I could come up with is that the factory Amplifier that is in the car is no longer working and that I need to check it out before I start running new wires for the speakers that are in it? Can anyone help me with this? Thanks

Do you have a Mach sound system, I thought those were the only ones with amps. Does your head-unit turn on or just not play music.

I had the exact same problem on my 95. I wired everything up, and the stereo worked great, but no sound came out. If your stereo has power and it's working, but there's no sound, then there is probably a factory amp. On mine there was an extra wire on the factory wiring harness. It turned out to be a power wire for the amp. So check your harness and see if you have any wires unaccounted for. If so, give her some juice and hopefully nothing blows up!

I had the same problem on my 89GT. The stock amp is directly behind then below the radio. What you have to do is find the wiring harness that is before the factory amp. Plug the aftermarket wiring harness into that, and it will work. I found the wiring harness up behind heating controls. Good luck!
