newby needs help finding replacement aftermarket hood
i just recently bought a 1988 lx notchback, which has a fiber glass hood, well the best way to describe it is it is the 1995 cobra r style with 2.5 inch raise, but also has the nostrils from the 96-98 factory cobra. i have looked everywhere for a replacement because of cracking and such, but there seems to be no such animal. if i need to post a pic of the current hood to help, let me know. or if u know where to look, that would be appreciated also. thanx.

that is what i am thinking also, but i did see a 94-98 gt with one on it yesterday on my way to work. thing is i cant find it for anything! so someone out there is doin these custom. i really like the hood and dont want to replace it. like you guys said, i have never seen one of these either. its what separates mine from the rest of the field!
thanks guys for the input, have a friend who is gonna fix it for me next weekend. guess while he has is it, i'll work on some of the imperfections on the rest of the car!
i am pretty sure i saw one like that on one of the sponsor websites. i got really bored yesterday at work and went through all of them. im sure it would be cheaper to have it fixed though

from the looks of the picture you put up it doesnt look like the hood fits the car very well. It might be made for some of the later models. I would check out...
they have some hoods that will fit the car better and still have that look that you are going for

Yep cervini's makes great stuff +1 on that. However, add $150.00 to the price for delivery, plus R&R labor. I think he was working on a budget ....as we all are i suppose.

You are right. i forgot to add that if you call american muscle (americanmuscle.com) they have a working relationship with cervinis. they only have the one hood avalible on the website but if you get the part number from the cervinis site they can order it and send it to you for free. and as far as the labor goes all long as you dont get a lift off hood it is easy to do yourself. their hoods meet OEM hood specs and if you do go with a lift off just make sure you take the time to get the mesurements right and start drilling.

the fitment problem i am having has to do with the hood pin location. also it is from the hinge holes in the hood being stripped out. plan on taking care of all that at the same time. wish i didnt have to work on a budget, luckily i'm not the only one thanks guys for lookin and doin the research for me.
