Default differences between gauge clusters

I have an 89 lx, but was looking at gauge clusters out of 90 and up stangs, would a 90 and up gauge cluster work in my car? they seem to be listed differently on ebay...... is there any differences besides the 140 speedo?! thanks for any help!

I think the speedometer was the only difference in these gauges. Other than that, one is 4 cylinder and one is 8 cylinder. The 4 cylinder cluster won't work in the 5.0 unless you get a 8 cylinder tach.

A '90-'93 cluster WILL NOT just plug into an '87-'89 dash and work correctly. There are two harnesses and there are wiring differences in those two harnesses for the two different clusters. Wires will have to be moved from one harness to the other, and vice versa.

If you find a cluster and you don't know for sure what year it's from, there is a very easy way to figure it out.....

'87-'89 = FLAT across the entire bottom of the cluster
'90-'93 = CONCAVE (curved inward) area in the middle of the bottom of the cluster
