Default 5.0L cylinder head help!

I'm looking to purchase new cylinder heads for my 5.0L does anybody have any suggestions? I've heard go with gt40's, then I've heard there not worth it go with edelbrock or AFR's. should I go with aluminum or the old cast iron? I would also like the heads assembled don't need rockers just valves and springs. I'm so lost on what to do can anybody give me some good reliable advice. Its carburated if that makes a differance I'm also planning on adding a cam, intake and exhaust too.

the cam needs to work with your heads which needs to work with your intake... so ideally you'd want to pick those all out together (even if you buy one piece at a time)...

i'm about to buy a new top end myself and i think i am going to go with the trick flow twisted wedge heads and track heat intake...

the GT-40 is a goo inexpensive way to bolt on a few extra horses... the gt-40p gets you a little more and the gt-40x a little more (gt40x are aluminum, so you get weight savings also)...

i've heard good things about the edelbrock performer combo, and that AFR has really good products but those are expensive if i remember correctly...

choose your goal for the engine first, then see if that works with your budget... then you can pick out the H/C/I combo that works for what you want and buy one piece at a time

I want to car to run anywhere from 12-11 seconds in a 1/4 miles its not going to be an everyday street car. I was trying to budget myself around 3000 on just the engine thats not including the new exhaust I'm running (headers and x and tail pipes). When looking that the heads what specs should I be looking at to make sure they are right with the cam and intake? Would I just look at the max amount of lift?

Does anybody know where I can get a good deal on heads also?

well to run 11-12 seconds it will take a high flowing H/C/I combo

such as trick flow or holley systemax which will deplete most of your 3000 dollar budget.....

but there is more to running those kinds of numbers than just engine mods you will need to upgrade your suspension & fuel system

Does anybody know where I can get a good deal on heads also?
