Aw, cmon Reggie...that's a little harsh....no cocktails at the Ale House for me?
Seriously though...I said "stock against stock" the Camaro won the war. Not Reggie's bad a$$ fox against the Camaro.
If you think about honestly though, you know I'm right. Parts for Chevrolet have always been cheaper than Ford parts and if you're really honest, you know damn good and well the LS motor is hands down, better than any motor Ford is using today (again, I'm talking about what they install at the factory).
It's o.k......I still like you Reggie and I will buy the cocktails for you and I, even if you won't. I'll even wear my "heart beat of America" hat and t-shirt as I step out of my stang.
Go with PI heads and quit watching The Fast and the Furious. (thanks 2 IhaveadopeGT)
Remember, it is almost impossible for anyone, myself included, to diagnose a problem over the internet without seeing the car. My advice is simply that, advice based on years of experience. I don't want you or anyone taking my word as gospel. I am trying to give some direction as to what I think may be happening.
as far as crate motors go its hard to beat a chevy price to power, my friend wanted me to do this same thing when I was pulling my motor out. My cousin has a ZZ502 he was going to use for a project corvette and i could get it cheap but I didnt have the money to get that motor in the car and make it work and it was kind of sketchy as I dont think anyone has ever put that motor in that car.

Here's something I don't understand....why all the "it's gotta be Ford or it's gotta be chevy" or "I'll never own a chevy or I'll never own a Ford" ? Why all the crap?
It's a brand loyalty thing. I have the Mustang, and a Chevy pickup, and my wife drives a Subaru, and used to drive a Honda. But I don't consider myself a Ford, Chevy, Subaru, or Honda person. I didn't buy the Mustang because it was a Ford product. I bought it because I liked it.
In my mind, it's similar to the question of, "How can anyone have strong feelings for a professional sports team?" I can see being enthusiastic about the local high school or college team, since the players are often from that area. But in professional sports, the players (especially the big names) aren't even from that area. And they're just going to be traded to some other team a few years later, anyway!
And it mystified me even further when I was growing up in middle of nowhere Pennsylvania, and people would say, "Yeah, the Dallas Cowboys are my team!"
(The disclaimer for the above is that the only sport I enjoy is hockey, and you'd have to drag me kicking and screaming to a baseball, basketball or football game. So I may be biased!)

BINGO.....DING, DING, DING, DING, DING......We have a winner folks.
That's exactly what I was was saying. The "brand loyalty" thing is garbage among true enthusiasts. True enthusiasts like the car because it is cool, not because of the blue oval or the bow tie or even the ram horns, they like it because whoever built it, did a hell of a job.
The brand loyalty thing just really gets me going. I think it is retarded and immature. I drive my mustang and my wife drives our (her) F-150. Prior to this mustang, I had another mustang and my wife drove a different F-150. Prior to that though, we had a Dodge Dakota and yes, I have even owned a Chevy in my lifetime. I will say that the chevy I bought, I tore it up and cracked the block and the heads by running it dry on oil one day coming home from a surfing trip. That was entirely my fault.

Face it guys....the LS motor is superior to any motor that Ford has produced yet. Stock against stock, the Camaro wins the hp and tq competition EVERY YEAR.
You see....I'm not appalled at the fact that someone went outside the box and put a chevy 350 in his stang, hell, if I could afford it, I'd pull my crappy 4.6 and swap an LS into it in a heartbeat(no pun intended ).
I used to own a black 1999 Camaro Z28 6 speed LS1 for about 4 months. Then I sold it to my buddy. I almost kept it and sold my mustang until i tried to do a basic tune up.
All I can say is if a mustang guy is asking how can i beat my friend ls camaro, the ls camaro guy is asking how can i change my spark plugs.
Theyre great cars with great engines but you had better have a shop or access to one if you want to work on an ls. They are a big time PITA.
Anyway, I believe the 4.6l 4 valve Cobra teksids are far superior to anything Cheby has ever produced. They rev crazy fast with ported heads and can handle over 1000hp with forged internals.
Oh and ls motors succumb to piston slap quite easily. My other buddy's firebird locked up after 88000.

I don't see anything wrong with "brand loyalty" really. People like what they like. It's kinda like the whole coke vs. pepsi battle. There really isn't a true winner, some people like pepsi (ME!) and others like coke. But that doesn't mean that one is better than the other...
If it wasn't for brand loyalty, then I don't think the whole muscle car wars would have ever happened... Think about NASCAR...
Competition sells!
Like I said, I've grew up around Fords, so therefore I love Fords. We do own a '49 Pontiac and a '75 Chevy pickup. I like the OLD and brand new vette's and I like the OLD and new Camaro's.
I would consider myself a car enthusiast, but I still love my Fords!

My neighbor has the same thing... 350 stroked to a 434, Powerglide, 9 inch rear, NOS fogger system and he runs 9's with it in a notchback LX. He bought it that way, and the guy he got it from said when he asked him WHY: because I could.
I'm a purist, I say Ford engine in a Ford and a Chevy engine in a Chevy. On the other hand I also say if you can do it, go for it. The small block Chevy is easier to work on, and parts are cheaper.
I will finish by saying a very wise quote:
Just because you CAN doesn't always mean you SHOULD.

Oh, you mean where you can't tell a Dodge from a Toyota from a Chevy from a Ford? That theory doesn't hold water these days. Maybe back in the early '70's it did but that went out the window in short order.
yeah...I see the "brand loyalty" thing....I just think it is crazy. I prefer mustangs(because I can afford it) but would buy a Corvette in a heartbeat if I could. The Corvette is far superior to the mustang in every way (including price ) and some would even argue you can't even classify them in the same catagory.
My point is, each auto maker has some really cool offerings and for someone to say I wouldn't drive a Chevy (or a Ford or a Dodge) just because it is a Chevy (or a Ford or a Dodge) is pretty pathetic. I'd be willing to bet anyone saying that garbage on here would gladly take a new Z06 or a new Viper if given the chance.

I've never really cared for the Viper... Yeah, it's fast but I think they are ugly. If someone was going to let me drive theirs or give one to me for free, then sure I'd take it. The NEW Vettes I like a lot, I think they look sporty. I never said I wouldn't drive a Chevy, or Dodge, I do drive a '75 Chevy pickup.
Only recently did Nascar switch to the COT, where they all use the same body... But they still use a Ford, Chevy, Dodge, or Toyota engine. So it's still a battle of the brands...
And the Mustang was never meant to compete against the Corvette, in fact, the first T-Bird was Ford's answer to the Corvette. The Camaro was made by Chevy to compete against the Mustang. And like you said, most of the time Chevy came out with more power. But not always.
Let's get back to the "Brand Loyalty" thing... Like I said, competition sells. And if you think about it, if it wasn't for brand loyalty and each company trying to out-perform the other then the car racing world would be completely different. If it wasn't for "Brand Loyalty" then would the Mustang have lasted like it has? and the Camaro never would have been discontinued then remade.
I see where you're coming from Rich, you make a good point. I'm just trying to point out why "brand loyalty" is a good thing. Think about it this way... Do you like Coke or Pepsi better? (I love Pepsi, but I'll drink Coke if I can't find a Pepsi) Or who is your favorite sports team? (I'm a big Nebraska football fan, even though I live in Norman, OK)
