1989 Mustang GT Keyless Entry Question

I just bought a 1989 Gt Convertible. The previous owner was not the original owner and didn't know if it had Keyless entry. Is there a way to determine if it does or not? IF so can a new keyfob be purchased for it and where?

not a 100% sure i don't think keyless entry was an option in 89....

I dont think it was available until 1994, but the Dealership could have always installed something.

Your both correct. Keyless entry was not an option from the factory until 94. I think that a local stereo shop could install aftermarket keyless entry but I am not sure on the price.

My '93 LX had a Cobra alarm system on it when I bought it. Part of the Cobra is keyless entry. Button #1 arms/disarms the alarm and locks/unlocks both doors. Button #2 unlocks the hatch. But, gotta hit #1 before #2 or the alarm will go off.

Thanks for the info. I'll have to install something. Feels weird to actually unlock a door with a key!
