I am gettin ready to put my 1993 oem cobra intake on my 1990 and i have new o rings for my injectors and a complete gasket kit.
- Is there anything elce i should bye for the install? Also what tips or anythin i should be aware of b4 i do it. ?
- is my Egr valve and everything gonna operate as it sould and does anyone kno the correct way the vaccuum lines are supposed to be ran under the upper cobra intake. Maybe a diagram or somethin cobra upper vs. stock 5.0 intake. Any help is appricated!

Vaccum should be pretty much the same. Make sure to use the correct gasket sealer (lower intake no need on plenum) and dont be shy especially in the valleys. Be very sure to torque in order and correct spec. Soak your injectors in gas before install should be fairly easy just dont fire up right away allow the gasket sealer to set.

Anyways.....
Here's what I have to say about it. This might be kinda long so here it goes.........
-Just be ready to replace a lot of vacuum line. Our cars are around 20 years old or so. So the vacuum lines have become brittle or torn. You MIGHT not need new vacuum line but just be ready to.
-On the lower intake, do not use the little rubber (or cork) end seals that they give you in the gasket set. Use a fairly thick layer of gasket sealer on each end and let it just skin over before putting the lower intake on.
-Make sure you cover any uncovered ports or you WILL drop something in one of them or get dirt in them. Tape any open ports up. When I was scraping the old gasket material off of the heads I stuffed paper shop towels in each port so I wouldn't get any gasket material in them. Also, keep the lifter valley covered with a paper towel. JUST BE SURE TO UNCOVER ANY PORTS AND THE LIFTER VALLEY WHEN YOU PUT EVERYTHING BACK TOGETHER! Trust me, stranger things have happened.
- Make sure all surfaces are clean before putting the new gaskets on. I washed my lifter valley out with diesel before I put the lower intake on.
- Put all of your gaskets on your intake before you mount them and make sure the gasket and the ports match. If they don't line up quite right, either take a knife and carefully cut away at the gasket until the ports are completely uncovered or use a dremel.
- CHANGE YOUR OIL BEFORE YOU START YOUR CAR! (you don't HAVE to change the filter but you might as well...)
- Clean your IAC and EGR with carb. cleaner.
- Check your TPS voltage after install.
- I also used some diesel to clean my throttle body...
- Check your timing and make sure you're at least running at 10*. I advanced mine to 14* and it runs REALLY good!
This sounds like a lot but it really isn't. The whole swap is actually very simple, it just takes some time to do it right.
I'm sure I'll think of more, and if I do I'll post it.

Now that is a complete list. On the cobra intake, the stem labeled to the charcoal box in Reg's pic is not there. The stem is on the front of the manifold by the throttle body. Get arp lower intake bolts too. Remember the torque for upper manifold is 12 to 18 lbs. Dont get carried away tightening these or theyll snap on you. Just as a thought, I put a thin layer of gasket sealer on the lower manifold gaskets on the 4 outside water ports, both sides. If you have a gasket that has a crossover for the front water ports, cut them out...its can be quite the flow restrictor. Dont forget to put in PCV screen too. Use dielectric grease for your injector connections. And if u havent already thought of it, change your thermo while your at it, secure it (spring towards engine)and the housing before your intake goes on. May want to look into an oil seperator from ur PCV to your upper intake....cobras are known to cause some blow back.

Is the post with what vacuum lines apply to an 88 upper intake? I'm convinced not everything is connected as it should be, anyone have a diagram or another edited pic?

Another tip:
Go to the hardware store and get some 3 inch threaded rod, you might need to take an intake bolt with you to get the right thread pitch. Put two on each side and they will hold the gaskets in place when putting the lower intake on. You don't want them moving around and it's really easy for them to get out of place. Plus with them staying put, you can really make sure the silicone sets up properly in the corners which is where leaks occur.

Don't stress over the vacuum lines. When I was doing mine, I was worried that the vacuum stuff would be all wierd, but it goes on the same way it comes off. Just remember where everything goes and take PLENTY of pictures.

Reg's pic shows it all, except for the one labeled charcoal box...the charcoal box line goes to a connector near where the throttle body goes...you'll see it on the cobra intake.

That's what I'm saying, does anyone have pictures or diagrams of the correct way for all the vacuum lines to be connected?
I think I deleted most of my pictures from my swap...
Are you in the middle of swapping right now? Or have you even started on it yet?
If you haven't even started, then you're just stressing. Don't worry it's easier than you think.

your cobra will come with a "T"...your PCV will attach to one side of the t, the stem of the t will go where the stock manifold is capped, and the other side of the t will go to where the egr is listed on Reg's pic.
