Default 1987 mustang cam

hey i have an 87 mustang gt and it is mostly stock except for mild porting to the heads and i would like to install a x 303 cam. does anyone know what i may need to make this work with the stock motor.

i would not reccommend installing it...you will not notice a performance increase, most cams were not made to work with stock heads...


it will be better to save up for new heads/intake

Like they said, that cam wouldn't help without other parts to feed it.

For heads:
AFR 165
TFS Twisted Wedge
Dart Pro 1 170
Brodix ST5.0

You do realize that's a big step from a stock cam right..........

Is the car a 5 speed or automatic?

Correct me if im wrong ol timer......

Stock 5.0 H.O. cam specs.......
.266*/266* duration, .444"/.444" lift

X303 cam specs.......
286*/286* duration, .542"/.542" lift

Im not tryin to say you dont know what your doin or anything I have seen people get a cam and say its to big......but like they said get yourself a good set of heads but my opinion go ahead with an intake throttle body and convert the car to MAF if you aint done so yet and also bigger injectors get the computor flashed for it all and I would just go ahead and do a complete rebuild.....thats just my 2 cents others may think otherwise but thats why we call it opinions.......

before you start buying all types of parts, and pull stuff apart. figure out what you want to do with the car i.e. road race, drag race, daily driver, show car, street warrior with some track time. that should be your first step, and then get yourself a good intake, and heads.
