Hey guys i had previously had a 76mm C&L kit on my stang with 24lb injectors after my h/c/i swap. The car ran like crap. popping, stalling, bucking. I put the stock 55mm MAF back on with the 19lb ers and everything is great. Ive been reading that this method of tricking the computer by changing the sample tubes doesnt work that well, and MY results were disastrous. How can they sell a product that doesnt perform AT ALL. Anyways have any of you guys had this problem? SO right now ive got the 55mm stock Maf hooked up to the 76mm intake tube to a 70mm throttle body. Id like to increase my MAF size to gain more power by changing the sample tube in the C&L 76mm to a 19lb sample tube but i feel this will only make my car run like it did with the 24 size sample tube. Plus i noticed theres no screen in the C&L tube. Could that be why it works so poorly. I mean i would think that C&L would notice something like that when designing and testing their product. Are there any 76mm aftermarket MAF tubes that are reliable?

My brother and I did a little experiment not too long ago. We wanted to see if that screen really made any difference at all so we removed it from his stock mass air meter. That thing went from running smooth with the screen to running like you pulled 4 spark plug wires off without the screen. We put the screen back in and it ran fine again, and that was the only thing we did. Apparently on his car, that screen made a difference so maybe yours is the same way. The purpose of the screen is to make sure the airflow is consistent when going over the element wire, not necessarily to be a filter like many think.
I've heard of others having an issue with the C&L meters, but most don't have an issue at all. Maybe if you try a different meter name like Pro-M/PMAS or even Summit's meters that are electronically set?

Ask me why I ran "only" a 13.54.

im gonna buy the 19lb sample tube and put on the 76mm maf and see how it runs. If it runs good then im guessing it could be the 24lb injectors i had. Im gonna stick with the 19's though i know theyre still good for the power im making.

My C&L 76mm works good for me. Sometimes you need to clock the MAF housing to get the best results.
When I run my C&L with the stock air box or with my K&N cone filter in the engine compartment, I have no problems. But when I run the C&L with my Fenderwell Cold Air, I need to clock it or it runs horrible.

But 89coupe is correct in his explanation. When I ran my CAI if the MAF was not clocked it would not even get up to 40-45mph without backfires through the intake that were so bad it was not drivable. I clocked it to "3" O'clock and it screamed through all the gears. Every car is a little different
